Well lets see not only did I lose the regular Monday night wager....

49ers +10
over 38 7 pt tease 300/230

But I decided to be slick and throw in a couple half time wagers...

2nd half wagers..
49ers + 3.5
under 23.5 150/500 this one hurt

49ers + 3.5 200/160

Well lost the regular wager by 2 points and the 2nd half wagers by a half point apiece due to a back door cover... Man when this crap happens it makes you just want to stop betting all together... Wow what a
%$&*ed up night.... Hope everyone did better than I did.... Sorry about this guys,,, just had to vent some.. Just really sucks when your that close to getting paid and a prevent defense sticks it to ya..

Thanks Dr. Freeze .... I appreciate the pat on the back and the encouragement.... It really is a terrible feeling when you can see a back door cover unfolding in front of you... Its nice to have friends to share this with... Thanks AM2kidz

I had that same HT wager on the Niners and the Under. The way I look at it we had it pegged right. The Niners controlled the second half and kept the scoring low by running the ball. It is just a bad break. Tough one to take because it wrapped up a 4-14 week for me, but I look to make good decisions and figure the good and bad luck will work itself out. Hopefully for you guys your handicapping and luck is going a bit better than mine at the moment.

this baseball/football betting approach can drive anyone insane. i see you make quite a few moneyline bets, ala bb.

could it be that the money line bets are preventing you from thinking "value", in looking for that edge to beat the line?

you know i had my share of problems with bb, on for a short time, off for a long time. it is tough for me to reconcile the different styles of betting, thus chasing dogs in bb, but not necessarily in football. somma do and somma don't.

re-think your approach to the game. i don't know, i talk to you as i am talking to myself. every week we all go thru the same agony of second guessing ourselves. why did we do this or not do that? why did i let myself be influenced by this or that. if i only had done a bit more research, etc.

look at the thread i wrote earlier today going team by team, why i did or didn't, why i should have done something different. read it, and throw your two cents' worth. it may help both of us.

Pep,

I have to respectfully disagree with what you are saying about moneylines. Tonight's game was a perfect example. Is there any way I would have palyed the NY moneyline? Heck no. But I stupidly looked at Jets -3 and played it because it was a home team on Monday laying small points that can run the ball against a defense that struggled to stop the run the first two games.

Looking at the dog side of things, if I had played all moneylines instead of spreads this year I would be FAR better off. Just hitting NE at +600 vs. IND would have turned my fortunes around this weekend completely.

Pep, you may not be the same as me, but I am a moneyline bettor. It is a confidence issue. I feel better about a play when my goals and the team's goals are the same. Believe me when I tell you that I gambled for years on spreads to middling success before finding gigantic success in moneylines over the past year. It is absolutely true that I am faltering right now but I still feel far more confident playing moneylines.

In fact, you bring up a good opportunity to announce that I am basically going to play moneylines exclusively for the remainder of the NFL season. With rare exceptions, I will be playing dogs that I think will win. I am sure it is not the right approach for everyone but I can tell you that in every other sport I have done well with that approach so I am going to stick to it.

Good luck to ya pep and I hope you give moneylines a chance in the NFL. For now, I can tell you to jump all over Detroit and Cleveland on the moneyline next week. Both are great dogs that should win outright.

Nick, I have to agree with you on the money line on dogs. Those who bet the money line on fav's, will get killed in the long run.

I like to play dog money line round robin's, small every week, just for the hell of it, and usually come out ahead.

hey Nick dude -- I would wait for the Det. ML to come out right before the game....should be best then.....

I am taking the Rams for now....think the spread will go up above 14 and I will try to middle it.

Also am gonna play some ML on the dogs. Especially the home dogs. Great value there.....
