Gotta love this conference.....only one without a postseason tourney. The regular season actually means something. I hope they don't ever change this.

Anyway, Yale, who last won the Ivy (and it's automatic berth into the NCAA tournament) in 1962, plays league co-bully (along with Princeton) Penn. The game will be played in Easton, PA. at Lafayete College. (Much closer to Philadelphia than New Haven). Penn sould have a slight "home-court" advantage here.

Penn is the best team in the league and is capable of reaching the Sweet 16 (should it beat Yale). The Buldogs are much younger, but have played great basketball the past 2 months. Yale is 2-0 ATS against Penn ths year and 1-1 straight up.

As a Yale fan, I'm a bit worried about them getting outrebounded here. But, Yale dominated a taller Princeton team 2 nights ago on the glass and played an overall outstanding game.

This game is for all the marbles. Should Penn win, Yale MIGHT get an NIT bid. Should Yale win, the Quakers MIGHT get an at-large bid into the NCAA's (but it's a long shot), and WILL get a bid to the NIT.

I got creamed the other night betting against Yale (lost $2170 total, including a halftime play). However, the Ivy has been VERY good to me and I feel confident in this play.

I think this game comes down to foul shots either way in the final moments. So, I REALLY like Yale.

Yale +7.......risk $2354 to win $2200 (Canbet......-107 sides)

Stag, Going with your head or your heart? Either way, I'm on Yale too. They have been an ATS money maker-let's hope they have one more good game in the tank.

Stag -- you're really risking some jack on this game.

I'm still undecided where I stand on this one. IMO Penn is the better team here even though Yale is playing well.

Penn is better rested, the Quakers come in with 4 days rest after a fairly easy win against Princeton on Tuesday night. Yale has to play 48 hours after a tougher must-win game vs Princeton on Thursday night.

Penn sold out their allotment of tickets to this game which is closer to Philly than to New Haven. The Penn fans tend to be loud and I give the Quakers a slight advantage on thie neutral court.

While both previous games between these two came down to the final minute, Penn seems to be able to turn their game up a notch when they have to. Combine that with a Penn team that will score 75+ and is a good free throw shooting team and IMO they should be able to cover the 7 points.

There's no question that Penn can shoot:

Ugonna Onyekwe has just broken into the NCAA Division I field goal percentage leaders list. He is currently tied for 29th, shooting 55.6 percent from the floor.

Andrew Toole is 27th in the nation in free throw percentage, shooting .868 from the charity stripe.

The Penn team is listed at No. 29 in scoring margin at +9.5 in NCAA Division I.

Penn is 18th on the NCAA Division I list for field goal percentage, shooting 47.9 percent from the floor.

Penn is 22nd in the nation in three-point field goals made per game with 8.4.

The Quakers are 16th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage, shooting a combined 39.8. Penn also leads the Ivy League in this category.

Penn has also turned their defense up a notch recently as in their L9 their opponents are averaging just 55.4 ppg.

Dave, as you mention Penn should be able to control the boards, Junior forwards Ugonna Onyekwe and Koko Archibong seem to have the Bulldogs' number as both players have scored in double figures against Yale this season. Onyekwe scored 18 and 19 points, respectively, while Archibong hit for 10 and 20 points, against Yale in two meetings this season.

Yale is an amazing 9-1-1 ATS on the road this season, but Penn is not too shabby 10-3 ATS away from The Palestra. Tough call here.

Lean: Penn -6.5 (Olympic)

Back later with my final decision.

Bryanz -- there's no question, you've done well in the Ivy this year.

But for what its worth, if you go back to Tuesday's post, you'll see that after you posted I posted Yale +1 first half as my big play; I also posted and won with Over 65 second half.

That play of Yale +1 first half was my biggest play of the year because I put half of my account at Camelot on it, figuring that I'd never see that money again!!!! Then Spiro was nice enough to let all of us Camelot players roll 2 dimes over to Olympic so I'm playing with free money tonite. :D

Also, FWIW I played Penn -6.5 at Olympic last night, I'm just trying to figure out what to recommend to the forum and whether or not I should add to this position.

Bryanz......
I am not in a contest with you. I am just giving my opinion. Am I allowed to have one? And what business is it of yours whether I lost the other night and I failed to pull the trigger. Don't worry about my bankroll. I've made quite a bit of dough in college hoops and the NHL this year, so I an afford to step out for a couple of games.
By the way, nobody likes a no-it-all. Penn may "win going away" but that doesn't mean I can't express an opinion on Yale. Your word is no gospel, and neither is mine.

Stag --

No need to get upset, I think Bryanz was addressing me not you. When he posted at 6:30 last Tuesday night I still hadn't posted my play on the Yale - Princeton game, and when I posted it a little later he probably didn't see it.

This is good line on this game, I'm really having trouble making up my mind. And Dave I hate to go against you when you have 2 dimes on Yale, but I think Penn gets this win by double digits.

Final Play:

Penn -7 (current line) for 2 units

Total Under 139 for 1 unit

gl guys.

I got Penn -6 last night and I added on to it at -7. Penn is simply the class of the Ivy league and will shot it yet again tonite. Hopefully, Penn gets a nice 12 or 13 seed and gets to play a chump team like Ohio State or Indiana.

NCAA Madness hint: bet a unit on all 4 12th seeds....moneyline
