Alright guys....I'm closin in on 4 weeks and although there are times I'd like to light up I dont even consider it. I feel 100% better. I run up stairs, much better wind, no cough or throat clearing....I could go on but suffice it to say that health improves almost immediatly....I'm walkin 2 mi a few times a week and liftin weights 20 or so min a day....234 now but adding muscle so weight is about the same. SOOOOOOOO Thats how I'm doing.... NOW.....JACK...DTB...ARE WE READY
FOR THIS ??? 2 more days.....I'm really pullin for you guys....Will tell you that the thing I feel best about is how the rest of the family feels....smokers worry their loved ones and that is history for me and will soon be for you.....Have a great Labor Day (I started cfb today with 2 up and 4 down...that sucks) but will improve.
Just a suggestion....tell everyone what your going to do..sometimes we find it easy to rationalize and disappoint ourselves..where it is much harder to disappoint loved ones etc. Enjoy the weekend guys but dont buy another carton

Great work Bear, congrats...

It's absolutely the BEST thing you can do for your health...and if you want to live long enough to see your grandkids grow up...

cheers

congrats hard to quit and keep the weight the same. dont know what kind of goal you have but maybe this will help. may sound extreme but is really easy after you start. dont know what kind of food you like but would eat about every 2 hours eat 4 oz chicken or fish each meal maybe on one of the meals 3 oz hamburger or steak. with 4 of the meals eat like a half banana or some kind of fruit. with the afternoon meal eat a potato and vegetable. drink at least 100 oz of water a day with the workout you have going probably need 140-150 oz of water depends on your activity for the day. i would only lift weights 3 days a week mon-wed-fri some combo like that 3 days with a day in between. maybe pick 1 exercise per bodypart and do it for 15 reps this is if you are wanting to lose weight. after a couple of weeks of this i would go to a 4 day split mon-tue-thur-fri working upper body one day and lower the next and maybe working abs all 4. i would walk or whatever aerobic ex you wanna do on your off days. i dont know how old or out of shape you are but ease into it dont overdue it people always seem to quit because they get burnt out after a month that is all the longer i see people usually last at attempting something like this even if you just walk 3 times a week that is great. if you have any questions just ask if you are not that interested sorry for all the details i just get excited for people trying to change themselves. i have seen people change so much it makes me happy to see them and here them be so upbeat. good luck on your quest and remember if you fall off it dont mean you have to land.

. i meant the day after the labor day weekend.

starting to get the jitters already. i know it's going to be tough but like bear said....it's the first week that's the toughest. if i can just get through that, i'm fairly certain i can pull it off.

good luck, dtb, and anybody else that joins us now.

Jack,DTB and all,
Now this may hurt too but I'd suggest a break from sports and gambling TILL YOU GET THIS DONE........Ya know, when the game gets tight and the adrenalin starts to flow.... its time for a few smokes. Get the family together ....plan lots of activities and come here and give us a blow by blow description cause its a bitch. YOU CAN DO IT! Coming here and talking about it DEFINITELY helps..plus the support..fantastic! Just look at the great stuff in this thread already....much appreciated!!!! talk later guys
