I am pretty sure Jack would not jump...........

Swedish filmmakers paid 67 people $30 to jump from 10 meters for the very first time.

49 of the participants took the leap.

I am guessing the number would be much lower if the cameras were off, but knowing you are on film makes you less likely to chicken out.

We had to do this in college. Pass/fail. Everyone lines up, gets up there and jumps. Probably the easiest test I have ever taken. Cross your arms, step forward, let gravity do the rest.

It does have some risk if you don't use proper form. Had someone end up with some pretty significant injuries to themselves because they hit the water wrong.

That was very interesting. Mind over matter and older definitely equals more risk averse. The young ones seem to just be able to overcome fear in their minds, or just simply lack it. I always talk about this, when I go snowboarding (which I don't very often), you see these kids flying down the mountain, going off jumps and attempting tricks I wouldn't dream of, with no regard for their body or safety. I really dug what that older lady was able to do at the 8 minute mark to just focus, relax and psyche her self into taking the plunge. Whatever it is, she's got the ability to concentrate and overcome a fear like this that takes over the body of most. Just seems like its so much easier for the young folk. Thanks for posting, Kick.

Yep, can easily dislocated a shoulder if you hit the water wrong.

She was 70 years old and just recently learned to swim, good for her:0054

Also if you watch the whole video you can see one guy say "A 70 year old women jumped". Her making the leap caused some to do it because they knew they'd be laughed at for life if they chickened out.

On the course!
I did it in 1981. Mexico City. It was unsettling standing up there. I could have sworn that if I pushed off, I would miss the pool! That's how small it appeared.

After the first jump, we went a ton!
