I think the result of the fight lies in the state of Pascal's right shoulder ( or hand ?).

He's had 10 months to rest it; anybody has a lead on this ?

I been wondering the same thing crow

I'm a bit surprised Froch is such a heavy favorite here

i guess the venue is the reason

I give Pascal a shot on points

but, to be fair, I haven't seen enough if each to give a solid opinion yet

The majority of the forums I have read think Froch by mid rounds KO

"the bunker"
only saw him once....froch was strange bird to watch fight...very awkward looking angular dude who seems to be very stingy with his punches....and fights with his hands down....

but....apparently he has serious power...

saw pascal fight and he seems very quick and flashy....ashamed pascal doesn`t have more pop....

neither guy`s fought any legit contenders in their prime...

anybody on the board see magee/froch?...was it as close as those cards would indicate?...

It was kind of close. Froch looked really bad in that fight. Froch likes to dictate the tempo and Magee was giving him problems. Froch was lazy and not very interested, I think he could have stepped it up a bit, if he'd had wanted too.
In my book Froch will enjoy the fact that he will be the boss in the fight. I don't think Pascal has what it takes to bother Froch. Just my take...

Froch pretty much walked through Magee shot's and was biding his time; it came in the 11 th.

His technique that night left a lot to be desired. On the recent interviews Froch said he worked on keeping his hands up, but maybe that's too little too late to change anything; come fight night i reckon it's going to be the same sloppy Froch.

What worries me is
1. He twice broke his power( right) hand
2. He has sloppy technique
3. At 31 he still hasn't fought anyone, let alone black fighters with fast twitch muscles.

Pascal last performance was horrid. He was fighting injured because they had this ESPN card booked a long time in advance.
Now after 10 months of resting, is he fit again ?
Because i've seen some pretty impressive combos and a reasonnable beard, he's not at all the same fighter when 100%.

Pascal is the 6 times canadian champion, plus an olympian, and he's the younger man by 4 years.

excellent commentary from hellephant and crow....this kind of insight really benefits the board...

i saw similar traits from both guys(seeing only one fight from each)...

i hope theres some way to see this fight...has the feel of a classic boxer/puncher match-up..

thanks again,guys..

I am busy right now but i could translate you later guys a part of Pascal latest interview. Few weeks ago, i would have told you that Pascal had no shot against Froch but now i have my doubts.... Pascal looks terribly in shape and he said he has a few surprise for Froch. He is finally in full shape and shoulder is perfect. He even told people he was considering to bet 25K on himself and at the 3-1 odds he will be making an easy 75k :0corn :scared his manager heard about it and told him he couldnt do it... He looks really in shape and Froch wont have it easy i think...

Thanks.

It looks like Pacal's shoulder problems was tendinitis caused by overstimulation ( 7 fights in the space of 13 months).

He refused an offer to fight in june to rest it completely, and has put every effort into his camp ( no pussy).

He hired good sparring partners, and watched Froch's tapes. 3 months in all, he's in the best shape of his life, wants to bet on himself, but his trainers don't want any distraction, so he won't.

Looks like we have a fight on our hands.

I have been going back and forth on this fight.

At first I thought Froch would steamroll Pascal, then I thought that Pascal might have the tools to outbox Froch....right now I'm leaning towards Froch...but he is quite a big favorite...

As of now I have a small play on Pascal @+290, he seems to be ready and confident...

Both fighters have some flaws, so neither outcome would really surprise me...

I'm going to play Pascal, only cause he is the dog

I see this as an even fight

Graham's odds are much more accurate

at the end of the day, Froch probably wins a decision in his hometown

but I think the odds are good enough to make a MEDIUM play on J.P.

hope his chin holds up!

this is actually the most intriguing fight of the weekend

two undefeated young guns...lots of questions will be answered....

youtube is an incredible asset, NJ

as are the contributions of everyone here

ain't like the olds days....lots of information out there

thanks for the link

Froch can crack, no doubt, but Pascal is the best guy he has faced by far

we will see how Pascal handles the foreign soil and the rough crowd

Here is Pascal training in Arizona, posted May 2008:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj9HWuuL4_4&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VE9XVNTWwA&feature=related

to sum:

Pascal fights like he's on rollerskates, his balance and footwork are sloppy, to say the least. He doesn't settle into his punches, he moves and throws at the same time, it's akward looking. I laughed while watching this because I used the exact same style and had the same flaws when I was boxing, the difference being he's a genetic freak and can get away with it on a world level.

His punches look slightly straighter. Not as loopy as we've seen in fights. There were some sharp uppercuts and body shots in close, but you can still see in his technique that he throw wide, and he moves his shoulders and elbow outwards before punching, he doesn't punch from the "tuck" position.

His shoulder roll defense looks good, his hands are low.

This fight may bring unintentional comedy and a few slips/awkward clashes, you have one guy with lousy balance and another who is a showman who keeps his hands low, it should be a riot to watch. I'm predicting Froch by KO, but at the present odds, I'm taking Pascal small, and the under at near even.

These videos were from 6 months ago. You can't use that to make an opinion on his current form.

But i agree he looks garbage.

Nice find !

Boy that is a bit sloppy

Two cocky guys...one with super speed and the other with a big punch.....I would guess Froch has the better beard...but who really knows....

might try that under as well NJ....but I want to think this one over more

Appreciate the research

crow, do you know the stories behind those vids? It's odd that he would be training in May, there was no fight then. In another article it says he started training in September.

I agree we can't tell exactly what Pascal will look like, but fighters don't change overnight. His punches may be a tad straighter, his feet a tad more balanced, but he's been boxing his entire life and formed hard muscle memory, he won't turn into Bernard Hopkins in 6 months. His current form cant be that far off from his lifelong form.

btw I took won't go full 12 rounds even money, small/medium wager.
