Outright plays (total stake per play: 2pts)

Brad Bryant to win 20/1 e.w. @ BetInternet and Tote
Continuing to ride the Bryant train for another week at least. The 3rd-ranked player on the Money List has finished no worse than 14th in any event in the last five months, winning on two occasions. He did finish 16th on his debut here last year, but to put that into perspective, it was his 2nd-best finish in ten events. There really is no reason why he shouldn't be high on the leaderboard yet again this Sunday.

David Edwards to win 22/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
While Bryant is 3rd-ranked on the Money List, Edwards is one place ahead of him in 3rd in the Scoring Average stats and has finished 1st and 3rd in the last two Tour events. As a Tour rookie, he has not played on this course previously, but that has not held him back this year. While Loren Roberts may be the player to beat this year, Edwards has shown that he is capable of doing so and was expected to be available at much shorter odds.

Craig Stadler to win 25/1 e.w. @ William Hill
And so was Stadler. His form has been patchy this year, but he was tipped for the 3M Championship following a strong performance in the Senior British Open and finished 2nd. His play was so strong that week that he hit 87% of greens in regulation. If he can maintain this form, he will surely go close to repeating his victory here two years ago.

Matchup plays (2pts)

Morris Hatalsky to beat Tom Jenkins +101 @ Pinnacle
Will certainly take these odds on a player who has finished behind Jenkins just twice in the last four months and one of those was courtesy of a final round 61 last week; Hatalsky had led him throughout the week until that one round. And having finished ahead of Jenkins in two of three years here, it is hard to see why Hatalsky is at plus odds.

Gil Morgan to beat Tom Kite -111 @ Expekt
Kite may have won last week's event, but it was the first time since April that he has finished ahead of Morgan, so I'll stick with the better and more consistent player.
(also available at BetFred and Centrebet)

Tom Watson to beat Eduardo Romero -114 @ Centrebet
For all his ability, Romero has not really performed in the few Champions Tour starts that he has had. His two finishes this year have been 16th and 31st and a similar performance should be no match for Watson who won here in 2003 and is the course record holder.

- - Football season is in the air, and only the Ryder Cup is left to compete with that as a sporting spectacle (as opposed to mere wagering opportunities) . . . If I could pick a wager to be the cherry on top of a successful season, this would be it.

Outrights - FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -6.00pts

Bryant 14th
Edwards 14th
Stadler 14th

No chance of a return on the Bryant and Stadler plays, but a small overall profit looked very likely with Edwards finishing in the top-5. That is, until he finished 5-6-5-5!

Matchups - FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -6.50pts

Hatalsky/Jenkins LOST by 3
Morgan/Kite LOST by 6
Watson/Romero LOST by 7

What an awful return on this event. Hatalsky did lead Jenkins before shooting 41 on the back nine on Sunday, but otherwise it was always going to be a big loss overall with Kite finishing 4th and Romero 1st.
