Congratulations to one of the most decent men in our nation. It is great that he has been recognized for all of the humanitarian deeds he does around the world. Regardless of Political affiliation everyone should be able to agree that he has made the most of his 22 years after a not so hot presidency.

Just his involvement with Habitat for Humanity makes him a honorable and decent man. Being from Georgia we know alot about him. The Presidential Library is well worth the trip.

His wife is also someone very special and with as good a heart as he has.

Here is what the "prestigious" Nobel committee was thinking of when they handed out the award.......

It should be interpreted as a criticism of the line that the current administration has taken," Gunnar Berge, chairman of the Nobel committee, said in Norwegian. "It's a kick in the leg to all that follow the same line as the United States."

" In a situation currently marked by threats of the use of power, Carter has stood by the principles that conflicts must as far as possible be resolved through mediation and international cooperation based on international law, respect for human rights and economic development," the Nobel Committee said.

.......These people are a bunch of globalist, humanistic/athiestic Euro doves who think that everyone in the world is basically good. Recent winners include Yassir Arafat of all people......a terrorist....I certainly wouldn't want to be grouped into any category with him....

Similarly, they gave the prize to Mikhael Gorbachev -- the guy who Regean and Thatcher took down......the guy is a communist, still a communist -- never denounced it -- and only after necessity and through Reagan and Thatchers hardline stance did he waver......

It appears that the UN has forgot history and how to defeat the presence of repression and evil.....you have to fight it -- as we did in the Civil War, Cold War, WWI, WWII and so on......you don't appease it -- as Neville Chamberlain, Bill Clinton, and others try.....that just doesn't work.......Peace is obtained through the destruction of evil....not the permissiveness of it....just ask the Iraqi people, the Jewish people, the Tawainese, etc.....

Unfortunitly Doc, peace will never be obtained thru the
destruction of evil........because one side sees the other
as evil, and there will always be sides........you will NEVER
eliminate the OTHER SIDE, unless of course the whole
planet is eliminated......which IS of course a POSIBILITY....
New England BIG this weekend.......GOW.......:)

You know, I knew exactly who would enter this thread as I was writing it. Sure enough here he is. If anyone posts anything that does not lean republican, freeze slams it.
This has nothing to do with what party you belong to. The man is a good human being period. Just because people don't want to go bomb Iraq doesn't make them bad. The war was with Al Qaeda and just like his dad George decided to let someone off the hook. Maybe 8 years from now Jeb can finish that Job?
Why Iraq?
Why not Saudi Arabia?
Why not Egypt?
Why not Syria?
Because junior has a score to settle. Don't remember any Iraquis on those planes. Pretty sure there were some saudis and egyptians though.
The Iraqui public has less of a beef with us, than the three nations I mentioned above. For now at least until the bombs fall.
I agree Sadaam could stand to be replaced. Why don't we get Alqaeda, and Hamaas first?

First let me cogradulate President Carter. He is a fine man and most likely the most honest president that this country has ever had. My hat is off to him.

Next Bravo to you SmashMouth I could not have said it better, you are an enlightened person. Bravo!!!!

my point is that the Nobel Prize committee is a big joke.....obviously there were political motives behind this award....read the quote.....totally tainted Carter's prize....past winners also taint it.....don't see a big deal in winning it anymore....

fortunately in other areas in which the award is given -- science and medicine, things are a little more objective.....they do not have the motivation in undermining US sovereignty in giving out those awards....

don't get me wrong....i respect Carter in a lot of ways....disagree with his stance on Iraq....but do respect most of the things he has done.....i just don't see the need for the nobel globalists to have to taint their award like this and Carter should show a little backbone by sticking up for American sovereignty

I wonder also about Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, I guess they had nothing to do with funding terrorism. Of coarse not. the answer is they are allies and the US does not want to (yet) arrest some members of the Royal Family.

best to go after Saddam he is weaker not much of an oil power, but could be later. Just hope they dont set up a military government if they do they could be there for years, decades.......

as for Mikhael Gorbachev he deserves the award for letting political prisoners go, and reforming (or trying to) the Soviet Union.
by the wat Putin is an ex KGB official so it is not like he was never part of the system. Communist party is the second biggest party there and if Putin fails could gain control again.

thanks

Carter is a good man, with a good heart, but he was a horrible President. I think he needs to take off his Rose colored glasses sometimes though.

I totally agree with Freeze about the Nobel Committee!! They are a bunch of Ultra-Liberal Peace Wackos!!

Definition of irony... Alfred Nobel, who established the Nobel prizes, including the Peace Prize, invented Dynamite and worked to develop mines, torpedos and other explosives...

Carter may be a nice guy, but he was a horrible president. Double-digit inflation, energy problems galore, and the 444 day hostage crisis in Iran all are part of his legacy as president.

Forgot to add more to Jimmah's presidential legacy - with the help of Congress, he gave away the Panama Canal. Now, if we need to move ship from Atlantic to Pacific can't go through PC. Company running canal at both ends is a Communist company called Huthison-Wampoa. The oil embargo. 20% + interest rates, etc. I don't believe that Carter was in any way a bad man. He had very little experience in government and foreign policy. I believe that his efforts after the presidency are an effort to re-shape his legacy. You have to give him credit for that. Do you suppose Bubba will do the same?

all Bubba cares about is his "legacy"......this guy will stop at no ends to promote himself......

unfortunately, Bubba does not have the heart that Carter has......most bleeding heart liberals truly do feel for the downtrodden.....as do conservatives....the only difference is that conservatives feel that self-sufficiency is the cure to one's problems in most cases and not government sufficiency -- apoint that those on the left either do not get or do not understand or do not believe in....i am not sure as to which.......but as for Clinton....that guy only cares about his $$, his power, his prestige.....same goes with his wife......

he will fail to exhibit the same servanthood that Carter did.....he will try to feign it, and "feel" our pain....but until I see a little self-sacrifice from that man, and a little servanthood with no other motives other than to serve others, he will never be in the same class as Carter.....

Alfred Nobel of Nobel Prize fame - He made his fortunes manufacturing explosives. Here is one thing I learned the other day. All the people that vote are anonymous and their names will not be revealed for get this, 100 years. By the way, Al was a Socialist. 100 years, give me a break, if they are so proud of their choices why not come forward? Why are things done in total secracy? You don't suppose they have something or an agenda they don't want known at this time?
