Not going to get too involved with a tri-sanctioned event on a course with no form, one player who thrives in Aus no matter what the course is Peter Lonard 66/1 at Multisports seems too big to me.
DTB - as far as I know Maritz is unlikely to play and is not quoted - the player at Bet365 is M Martin I think - as for POM I couldn't comment but he is 50/1 at Ladbrokes

No course form to study so gone for a couple of in-form acclimatised Aussies who had last week off... (hopefully to practice here)
Parry 33/1 at Surrey/Ladbrokes recent NZ Open winner
& Leaney 50/1 Ladbrokes recent NZ Open runner-up

Lad's 50/1 Leaney is a decent price.

Keen on O'Hern 50/1...local boy, fair form, and the course looks tightish...Ladbrokes, Coral
66/1 Rumford at Ladbrokes too.

A very difficult tournament to come to any conclusion about... should be a pretty good event to watch, too.

DTB, I don't really know his chances of winning, but if he can't beat Steve Alker in a match-bet (1.80 @ Centrebet) then I'll be dipped with you:D

Having walked the course over the last two days I was trying to summarise what I had seen and the following comments from another tipping site certainly were spot on

" The wind will come in most afternoons and make conditions tougher for the later starters. All in all the course should provide a stern test of golf this week - a player who can work the ball right to left, is used to fast greens and can play in a stiff breeze, will be the one holding the trophy come Sunday afternoon. "

Fast greens is an understatement, they are an eerie blue/grey in colour and you will have players putting off the green from above some pin positions. Precision irons into the green are a must here. Distance off the tee will also come into play, especially at the par 4 eighteenth which will play dead into the afternoon seabreeze and some players are hitting two drivers to get it home. There will be good birdie opportunities from 10 through 15

My picks are based on distance, accuracy and putting along with playing the back nine early on the first day.

Sergio Garcia to win 15/2 @ UK Betting [2 units]
Adam Scott to win 25/1 e.w. @ Bet 365 [1 unit]
Nick O'Hern to win 50/1 e.w. @ Victor Chandler [0.5 unit]
Andrew Coltart to win 66/1 e.w. @ Surreys or Blue Square [0.5 unit]

Just a couple of small plays at Camelot
Leaney over Webster - +110 - Webster pulled out with a bad back before playing one of his favourite courses last week - the 10 hour flight onto Perth would have done him no favours
Coltart over Rose - +110 - The Scot plays well in Aus and I just have a feeling that Rose might well have been partying a bit much

72-hole plays:

72-hole plays:

Craig Parry to beat Niclas Fasth -125 @ Centrebet
Robert Karlsson to beat Mathias Gronberg -120 @ Five Dimes [1.5 units]
Stephen Leaney to beat Mathias Gronberg -125 @ Centrebet [1.5 units]
Peter Lonard to beat Mathias Gronberg -111 @ Simon Bold [1.5 units]
Steve Webster to beat David Howell -110 @ Surrey [0.5 units]
Craig Parry to beat Lee Westwood -111 @ Simon Bold [0.5 units]

Ian, Webster pulled out of the Dunhill Championship with an upset stomach on the Thursday morning. It was Paul Lawrie who had the bad back. I certainly wouldn't be on Webster if it were a back problem. Oh well, too late now!

Ah well don't know where I read that - I bow to your better judgement Stan, my argument now reads - having pulled out of last week with a bad stomach 10 hours with nothing but plane food will do him no favours whatsoever!!!

Adding one further play - Laycock did me a few favours before Xmas and I really don't see why Ladbrokes are quoting 100/1

A quick overview of today:

Wind was up early and built throughout the day with the morning/afternoon scoring average split at 75.0/77.1

11 sub par rounds in the morning compared with only 3 in the afternoon

Weather forecast for tomorrow is for the wind to be blowing early as it did today but it is supposed to be up to 10 kmh stronger in the afternoon (gusting up to 55kmh as opposed to only 45kmh today).

Cheers for that Nomad
One price I do find a bit odd is the 80/1 Centrebet offer on Wi - shot a fine 2 under to lie 4th - admittedly he still has the difficult afternoon to go but it seems a bit excessive

Update after round 2:

Conditions were similar to round 1 with the scoring averages showing a 2 shot difference between early and late tee-times 74.1/76.1

15 sub par rounds in the morning compared to just 2 in the afternoon was also pretty similar to round 1.

Due to the Eastern states being 3 hours in front of Western Australia all players are teeing off by 9am local time in order to allow for better TV viewing hours.

This of course means that everyone will have similar conditions for the remaining two days with the wind changing to an E/SE direction as opposed to the W/SW that it has been blowing so far in the mornings.

Ouch! All six matchup plays behind and Campbell shoots 80 in the 2nd round having been 2nd over night :nooo: But at least five of the six matchup plays are still alive and all are very close.

The link above is Goosen's scorecard. When writing this it only includes data for rounds 1 and 2 even though he has completed 3. I just wish I had seen it yesterday... his driving accuracy out of 100% was 396% and his average putts per round were just 2... now I know that this season for picking winners I am as useful as a chocolate fireguard.... but I have to say, with figures like that.... I think he will win. (There tipped one....I'm going to break my season duck.... the winners will then start to flow :)

He will win.... won't he????
