Sources say that seattle top prospect Adam Jones is going to be called up to the big leagues to start Thursday versus the Detroit Tigers.

This is certainly good news, but apparently he is going to play right field and Jose Guillen is sliding over to left. That part is puzzling if they stick with that plan, but at least the Mariners are doing the right thing by getting their top prospect his due time in the major leagues.

To make room in the lineup, it appears the club is benching Jose Vidro and making Raul Ibanez the DH more often than not. To make room on the 25-man roster, the M's are either sending a pitcher out and going with 11 arms instead of 12, or are sending Jason Ellison out.

But can they send Ellison out after Sunday? Probably not. Bet on a reliever heading back to Tacoma.

The Mariners aren't expected to call up Adam Jones for Thursday's game.

The site that filed the report has backed off it now, and the Mariners have done nothing to suggest it's going to happen. "I haven't heard anything about Jones coming up," manager John McLaren said. "I haven't heard anything about it at all." Perhaps it's something the Mariners will consider later this month.
