Been away from the site for awhile...once football season is over, I usually try to close my account.
Anyway, big fights have been somewhat lacking -- with the exception of the Pacquiano-Marquez fight (looking forward to the rematch).
I'm still debating on whether or not to order the Jones-Tarver fight since a) it's $50 bones and b) on the same time as Lakers-Spurs
However, I think that this fight presents a good opportunity for betting under 11.5 rounds. Jones will not have to struggle to make weight this time around since he has not fought again at heavyweight since his last bout. Also, he feels that he has been disrespected in the media by Tarver (and HBO to a degree) for arguing that Jones really lost the first fight.
The last time Jones fought a rematch with something to prove was against Montell Griffin (who tested Jones in the first fight before winning on a DQ). Of course Griffin didn't make it out of the first round in the rematch.
Now, I don't think this will be a 1 round knockout...especially since Tarver presents a more awkward target for Jones with his height and the fact that he is a lefty. However, this fight should result in a few more of those "bad intentions" punches.
While I think that Jones ends this fight before the 12 round, there is no value in picking him to win by KO...I think it's something like 6/5 the last time I looked. Plus, I won't rule out the fact that with something to prove, he could get a little careless and get stung by Tarver -- which would be pretty cool.
putting a unit on under 11.5
