Curtis Joseph has been put on waivers by the Detroit Red Wings, TSN has learned.

Sources told TSN Joseph was told by Detroit general manager Ken Holland this morning that he would be put on waivers today and would not be accompanying the team on the road trip that includes a game in St. Louis tomorrow night and Toronto on Saturday.

Manny Legace will start in net for the Wings tonight in a home game against Anaheim. Dominik Hasek, coming off a groin injury, will be Legace's backup.

Joseph will remain at home to await his fate. It's doubtful Jospeh will be claimed but, in any event, the waiver period expires at noon on Friday. If Joseph isn't claimed, it's likely he will be assigned to the Red Wings' farm team in Grand Rapids, Mich.
