It looks like two maybe three folks asked any tough questions. The rest just kissed his ring. We have many chicken Senators from both sides. This is a guy that can have 20 years of telling us how to eat and what hand to wipe our ass with. And no one has guts to question him hard.

DJV,

Kennedy and Biden badgered the shit out of him. As I said when he was first nominated 3 months ago for O' Connors vacancy, he is the right guy for one spot on the court.

The next one is where it will get interesting.

I would like to here how he would have voted Bush vs Gore. I would like to here how he would have voted on the case they just had in Mass. Where there taking a house a way from this family for a multi family development. I want him asked what he thinks about gay marriage. Where he stands on death penalty.

the political grandstanding was abhorrant and kennedy looked again like the POS that he really is

Schumer mentioned Hurricane Katrina 49 times in 10 minutes, as if that had anything to do with this nomination

Biden looked like a complete prick up there -- berating him like he was a little kid -- all the while trying to snare him in his traps acting like he was the honest and forthright one while Roberts was not.

Whats really funny is in the next breath these fools will tell us how republicans play partisan politics and how they are dividing America

You heard that Roberts will be a constitutionalist

Likely, that means he believes it is not the court's decision to decide such matters as gay marriage, the death penalty, etc. etc.

He believes that lifetime dictators from the bench who are not accountable to the people should stay out of such decisions since they are not mentioned in the Constitution.

Doesn't that seem reasonable?

Or do you think some black-robed lawyer should tell us all what to do according to his whim?

This one doesn't matter. Roberts will be confirmed, as he should be. It won't even be close, I don't think. Whatever the case, he's in.

These Democrats are trying to get their 'points' in, in these hearings, but it won't make any difference.

Kennedy looked like the total jackass that he is today.

I think after Biden and Kenndey were tourched by Roberts the intimidation factor set in. You think he isn't one sharp cookie??

Almost had me believing he was middle of the road kinda guy :)

i don't agree with roberts on everything....but the guy is very impressive & highly qualified.that is all you can ask for about a supreme court nominee.

you expect kennedy to act the way he did.....his national career is over & i think it doesn't really matter how he acts....but i think biden, who is rumored to be interested in the presidency looked very bad by his questioning.....& it may come back to bite him on the ass.

The only issue that should be relevant is if he is qualified. Being qualified has nothing to do with how you would vote on any issue. I am conservative, but Thurgood Marshall was qualified. Brennan was qualified. So was Bork and so is Roberts.

Confirmation of judges has gone way beyond what was ever intended or what it should be.

As for Biden, he is in piepdream "maybe I can be President" mode. AS if that whole plagiarism thing wont come up again.

After reading some of your comments, I am guessing that with your head so far up your ass you don't have to worry about wiping it.
