Reports that there were shots at his home in Oceanside, CA. Some reporting that it was an apparent suicide.

43 years old. Way too young. I know he was involved in the San Diego community through charities and his own foundation. Definitely a shame.

He was a good guy and gave to many.

Great restaurant. I met him thru Scott Ross, LB USC/MIA Dolphins, Jr Replaced Scott when Scott was suspended for behavior unbecoming a USC athlete.

Didn't he drive his car off a cliff a few years ago and then claim it wasn't a suicide attempt?

Sad day. He was a great player and I loved watching him play. He IMO was everything great about the NFL.

Saying that, this is just another reason why I'm not going to let my 8yr old son play football. He's been bugging me to play but to me it's just not worth it. I know the chances of him playing long enough for something to happen are slim but big enough for me to not want that for him. I have a good friend from high school that's in a wheel chair from a hit in a game.

Sad news. Heard it was a suicide. He left behind 3 kids. He should be a posthumous HOF inductee.
RIP Junior

I don't think it's a coincidence these guys are shooting themselves in the chest to preserve their brains.

very very sad, was known as " Buddy" to everyone that knew him. It's definitely not a coincidence. This work is taking off studying brains in Boston through Harvard hospital network. Dave Duerson, and three other former NFL players committed suicide this year, Junior makes five.

Steve Smith, Ted Johnson, Kevin Turner, many others suffering terribly. It's very sad.
