If the horse people are so worried about thoroughbreds fragile legs causing injury, why on earth do they still run archaic steeplechase races at Saratoga? Every race it seems like at least one horse goes down from jumping. Dumb.

I think it's just a traditional thing at Saratoga now. I can remember when there were 1 or 2 every day here.

Back when I had season tickets for Saratoga. They had 1 or 2 steeplechase races midweek and it always looked like the horses loved to do it 8,9 and 10 yrs old plus... I have seen way more breakdowns on the flat track ... It's hard for me to say steeplechase races are bad.

I do love Saratoga :toast: Great place to watch horse racing :00hour
