Just incredible to be down in the pit where those towers once stood. If any you guys watch the news and you see the circle of roses in the pit there is a large American flag that sticks out ( you can't miss it) that was left by my brother in memory of his wife Janet Alonso who was lost that day. The City did a good job on the tribute and the red cross deserves alot of credit because they were there handed out water, cookies, tissues & Roses to Everyone who wanted. To sum it up being there made me feel really proud to be American. Just thought I would share that. Thanks

Snake, that's awesome...I'll look for that flag when I pop on the TV tonight. I spent most of last night sitting in front of the TV on an anger/fear/grief spin cycle. I made sure I was late to work today just so I could catch enough coverage of the memorial in honor of the victims. I watched about an hour of it and finally left the house when they were honoring the victims alphabetically. They had just finished up with the B's....the B's! :( On the way to work I teared up seeing all of the people waving American flags and holding banners over the Riverside bridge here in Austin.

The NYPD and NYFD have earned both combat and hero status with me. As for myself, I am in awe of the people of New York City, both for their actions that day - law enforcement, emergency personnel and civilians alike -as well as their actions for the past year. To those of you still in the city...bless you. With all my heart and respect I wish you a good day. It will be hard and every tear you shed is justified. I am sure I will shed more as I have already. The world lost some great people.

My prayers and thoughts to your family Snake.

Snake, I saw him on TV!! He was planting it next to a guy filing a can with dirt. There were 2 guys in the middle of the circle and one was digging a small trench to plant a small flag. was that your brother??
