I know that it is possible that this is of little interest to some. But since I have quite a number of friends on this board I want to share an e mail from Kathy which conciseley sums up her progress. I have been too busy with trips to and from hospital and with work to keep everyone informed on a daily basis.
But I do want to thank all the well-wishers for their positive thoughts and prayers.
Hi {{{*EVERYONE*}}}
Just a quick note to keep you all posted. I apologize for sending out "bulk e-mail"but please know I am thinking of all of you.
After having chemo for 24/7 and then being off for 7 days, I had another bone marrow test taken on Thursday which had to be sent to CA. Got the results back on Friday, which surprised me. The Drs. are happy with there I am at right now. My immune system is at rock bottom. I can catch everything and anything. That's why I'll be in this isolated room my whole stay. Since Friday they have been givine me hormones to "jump-start" bone marrow production. After 10 days of that they will take another bone marrow test. If all is well... I could be in complete remission. Even though I might be in remission, I could also have to go through a second chemo which will not be as harsh as the first one. We're taking this one step at a time so there's no telling what the next step could be.
This hospital food can kill a healthy person. Don't ask me how, but they can ruin oatmeal... I guess since I'm bitching, I'm feeling pretty good. ;-)
I'll write again soon. I should be feeling better and better as each day passes. There's nothing else for my body to do except to start producing bone marrow again.
With love,
Kat... >^,,^<

OH.. and how am I doing? Well, imagine that you have a finger stuck in a light socket and you just carry on "business as usual"
And in spite of occasional high voltage zaps that momentarily "distract" you .. you try to pretend that everything is normal so that you can work and try not to look TOO insane.
I saw one of her doctors lat night. No more chemo for the next week and a half while they build her WBC and RBC count back up. Then they do another bone marrow biopsy. If she is still in remission then they will let her go home for a month. Then she comes back for another week of chemo.
Kathy is in Del Webb Hospital in isolation. Still no visitors or flowers.
