YOUNGSTOWN

Former middleweight boxing champion Kelly Pavlik?s most recent fight appears to have been with his older brother at their parents? South Side home.

Youngstown police filed a report Friday stating that Kelly Pavlik, 29, and Michael Pavlik Jr., 35, were at the Cornell Street home owned by their parents when the brothers were involved in a disagreement. Michael lives at the home, but Kelly lives in Canfield.

Reports say the brothers had been drinking at the time of the incident.

Kelly Pavlik was released from alcohol-abuse treatment and returned to Youngstown in January after two months of rehabilitation.

According to police, Kelly, after exchanging words with Michael, ?punched the west-facing side door of the home and pulled his brother, Michael, out of the broken window.?

Reports say officers found glass to have been broken and blood on nearby steps. Michael Pavlik, police said, appeared to have minor cuts to his arms and hands, but told officers at the scene that he did not need an ambulance or medical attention.

Kelly Pavlik had left the home before officers arrived and police could not contact him for questioning. Michael Pavlik, reportedly, told officers repeatedly he did not wish to file charges against his brother.

Jack Loew, Kelly?s trainer, said he was unaware of the fight as of Monday afternoon. Several calls to Kelly Pavlik were not returned.

Kelly Pavlik, in late 2010, checked himself into the Betty Ford Center for alcohol abuse. His family also told Yahoo! Sports that Pavlik spent time in alcohol rehab earlier in 2010 before he lost to Sergio Martinez in an April 2010 fight in Atlantic City, N.J.

He won his May fight over Alfonso Lopez.

The fight between the brothers was witnessed by Michael?s girlfriend, who was at the home.

Michael Pavlik in 2009 was charged with felony domestic violence for an attack on a former girlfriend. Michael Pavlik pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of misdemeanor domestic violence in a plea agreement with county prosecutors.

He served 35 days of a 60-day county-jail sentence.

Hope he doesn't pull a Diego Corrales and whack himself. When he last fought and displayed all the ink it was a sure sign of decline. As if tats are going to make him a better person. AA meetings might, though:facepalm: .

Top Rank is very disappointed at Kelly?s sudden decision to discontinue the rebuilding of his boxing career,? said Todd duBoef, president of Top Rank, Pavlik?s promoter. ?Kelly?s team specifically outlined a strategy for Kelly to return to the ring in an effective fashion. Kelly?s team gave us their objectives and we set them on a course, which began last May with Kelly?s fight against Alfonso Lopez and was to continue on Saturday against Darryl Cunningham. It seems Kelly has derailed this plan.?

So, according to "reports", Pavlik bailed out of the Cunningham fight because he was only getting 1.5million to fight Bute "IF" he wins here!!! How in hell can he pull out of a fight based on an uncertain future fight? He has to win this one first. I'm not sure if I ever heard of this before. If he won this convincingly, then maybe he would be in a better position to bargain. Sounds like he is in need of the "extraction"; that is, to remove his head from up in his ass.:moon:
