In the wake of the tragic death of their 16-year-old son Jett, finally some good news for the Travoltas, who, just last week, lost their two dogs in a freak accident at an airport when a service vehicle truck hit the dogs as they were being walked on an airport tarmac at Maine?s Bangor International Airport. John Travolta and Kelly Preston have announced they are expecting a child.
The couple had stayed away from the public for a year after the death of their eldest son, though John had just reappeared in January for his film From Paris with Love and Kelly Preston made an appearance in the Miley Cyrus flick Last Song. This will be the third child for Travolta and Preston, who are also parents to ten-year-old Ella Bleu.
?It?s impossible to keep a secret ? especially one as wonderful as this,? the Travoltas said in a statement. ?We want to be the first to share this great news with everyone. We are expecting a new addition to our family. Love, John, Kelly and Ella.?
Travolta, 56, broke the news on his site beating the tabloid Us Weekly from breaking the story.
Jett died of a seizure related to autism in January 2009 at age 16 while at the family?s vacation home in the Bahamas. The tragedy was even harder for the family in the wake of a bizarre $20 million extortion plot devised by the Bahamas? Minister of Tourism, a Senator and a paramedic who had responded to the 911 call.
Back in February, John Travolta told the press, ?We?ve been working very hard every day at healing, and we still are. But it?s working. We?ve worked with our church and worked with each other and our friends and family. It?s a tough one, and it?s going to be. But at least we have help and it?s working.?
?[The pregnancy] is not a shock to anyone in their camp,? Gossip reporter Paula Froelich told CBS? The Early Show this morning, adding that the couple had made a ?concerted effort? to have another child together.
