First the assault charge on his soon-to-be ex wife last winter....now attempted sexual assault on another woman. I think we're finding out this guy isn't the "great hero" the media portrayed him to be. He probably gets off with community service. He gets caught now; makes you wonder how many times he did it and didn't get caught.

Not to make this "pig pile on kirby day" but once espn was trying him out as a broadcaster. Every time a fastball got by a hitter Kirby would say, "that's just good old fashioned hog ball." Everytime. It was his only expression.

That was the extent of the humor and insight he brought to the booth.

Joe Morgan, he ain't.

Didn't know this about the abuse though. As a card carrying iconoclast, I can't say I'm really sorry any time one of these "worshipped" guys goes down.

I'm still waiting for a juicy Ripken story after some of the rumors.

Hints and allegations that he smacked Kelly (his wife) around.

Supposedly, she called the cops on him one night and they were holding him. It would have halted the streak. Well, they had a problem with the lights that night at Camden Yards and the game was made up the following afternoon.

The other way to tell it is that they had a problem with the lights one night at Camden Yards and this story about Rip and his wife came out of that.

The story never has had much legs so don't make too much out of it, but like I said, card-carrying iconoclast.

I went to the make-up game and sat behind home plate and watched Randy Johnson pitch.

I also have first-hand accounts from someone who was her "personal shopper", that Kelly's quite the bitch, though she puts on a good face for the public.

That's the same Ripken-Costner story with a different twist. There are as many stories as there are people out there. The funny thing is to see how quickly they travel across country. They spread from coast to coast within a week.

I don't know the ripken-costner story.

A local sports guy did an interview with Rip over the weekend and he wouldn't touch the questions about Kirby. I think if he criticized Puckett, he's scared that Kirby would call him out. "Hey, Ripken did it. Why can't I?"

Nothing like a good unfounded conspiracy theory...;)

The problem with that (the rumors) is that these are regular people with families. I realize they're in the spotlight, but some things cross the line, especially when kids and wives and stuff get involved. Atleast 90% of what you hear is false, so it's ashame when it gets spread around before it's substantiated.
