Round 1 plays (1pt):

Alexander Noren to beat Robert Dinwiddie -115 @ Extrabet [tie loses] [also available @ William Hill]
He may not be in the best of form (though he does still lead Dinwiddie 11-4 h2h over the last 12 months), but this is clearly a course that suits Noren. In his two appearances here, he has finished 3rd in 2007 and held the lead after 36 holes last year. Dinwiddie missed the cut on his course debut last year.

Simon Dyson to beat Oskar Henningsson -110 @ The Greek [also available @ Bet365]
Finishes of 4th and 1st in his last two events make Henningsson the form player in this field. However, he had missed 8 of his previous 10 cuts this year, so this was surely no more than a purple patch of form and so the enforced two-week absence from Tour should make it difficult for him to retain that form. Dyson had finished behind Henningsson just once all year before those last two events and I'd expect such 'normality' to resume this week.

Marcus Fraser to beat David Horsey -115 @ Extrabet [tie loses]
A strange thing happened in the inaugural Moravia Silesia Open ... Marcus Fraser missed the cut! It's strange because it was the first time that he had missed the cut in a European Tour since the KLM Open 12 months ago. That was a sequence of 21 consecutive cuts made on this Tour. Okay, he did miss the cut by two shots here last year, but that was his course debut and he will surely do better this time around. If he does, he should beat Horsey who is making his course debut and has missed the cut in three of his last five events.

Robert-Jan Derksen to beat Oskar Henningsson +100 @ Stan James [tie loses]
Derksen has never played particularly well in his 'home' Open, but he is still at least one class above Henningsson: he had never finished behind his opponent in any event before those two weeks, so this week should be no different.

Alexander Noren to beat Peter Lawrie -120 @ Paddy Power [also available @ Stan James]
Backing Noren to also beat Lawrie, who, like Dinwiddie, missed the cut here last year. And, as in the first matchup, there is a one-sided nature to the h2h stats: 24-9 to Noren since the start of 2008 (and in terms of the 1st round alone, the h2h stats are 23-9-1).

Outrights:

Alexander Noren(50/1) e.w.
- - Super high on my linksy H.S. Colt short list, and could take inspiration from pal Kaymer's ascension in Race to Dubai.

Brett Rumford(80/1) e.w.
- - Can thrive here with the strengths and proficiencies of his game.

Simon Dyson(33/1) e.w.
- - Held back by being a bit of a basket case, it seems, but tendencies also somewhat detectable for much the same reason.

Chinarat Phadungsil(200/1) e.w.
- - Seeing he won last week, it was very much a case of "say no more" when it came to carrying my cash vis-a-vis the other longshots I started out having in mind.

lostinamerica - Would appreciate clarification:

Noren - "Super high on my linksy H.S. Colt short list..."

What does "linksy H.S. Colt..." refer to?

Lost - Thanks for the info.

(I googled up the Chinnarat Phadungsil win and edited it out of my post, but you were already on top of answering).
