They just came into minnesota this week, people lined up at 11am the morning before they open, buy the time they open the line was 600 people deep, they had to shuttle bus people from a mall parking lot to the krispy kreme store since there was not enough parking, they needed traffic cops to control traffic around the site, that was on Tuesday and there are still lines to get into buy these doughnuts today.

A radio station I was listening to said the line was about 75 people long still this morning. Anybody know what the big hype is about krispy kreme doughnuts, guess they started in north carolina.

Also there stock ( KKD ) is going through the roof, they plan to eventually be in all 50 states so still might be worth a buy.

Is this just a craze or will this krispy kreme doughnut be the next walmart, or home depot stock.

For the complete story check out the link below, photos of people waiting in line also.

So Cal
Krisy kreme has been around since the late 20's or early 30's in one form or another. They have only recently started a massive expansion into parts of the country, California, for example, that heretofore had never heard of Krispy Kreme. They sell like hotcakes out here, too. I have a student in one of my classes that works for Krispy Kreme. She is a better spokesperson for this company than the Colonel was for KFC. In fact, I think she may run the damn' thing some day. She talks about nothing else 24/7 for about the last year and a half. Now, believe me, she is just an 18 year old, no expert by any means. But she has more enthusiasm than anyone I have ever seen for any other company. From what she has shown me (in many cases unwilingly on my part) they appear to be an extremely well organized, forward thinking, technology oriented organization. I like what I have seen through her incessant babbling about this company. They appear to value their employees and treat them right; pay them a decent wage; offer opportunities for advancement. Look at it this way, what other company do you know of that inspires 18 year olds to have a desire to work, look toward the future, value their job, and appreciate their company. And, by the way, I teach at an "Alternative" (read "continuation") school. Just my 2 cents.

Are you from MN too? Cool!

Actually Krispy Kreme was here a little over 30 years ago, so they basically came back to Minnesota.

Basically over the last 20 years, the doughnut biz was on the decline due to healthier consumers, and that meant the success to the Bagel industry. Like people, businesses are cyclical and the image of Krispy Kreme (as well as their taste) is on a tremendous upswing. It will be for quite awhile too!

Hope this helps!

A lady I work with just came back from down south with 2 boxes of KK's, they were good but hardly worth waiting in line 600 deep.
Now if it were Knob Creek, or alittle Booker and a couple of Cubans that would be a different story :D

Meantime the Minnesota Timberwolves have 3,000 tickets left for there Sunday playoff game with the Mavericks.

They wish people were lining up to buy their tickets, maybe they should give a dozen krispy kreme doughnuts with ever ticket sold
that might move the tickets.

T-wolves fans want to see team get out of round 1 before they get excited:D

Down in DTB's and 65's area, they actually had to close a Krispy Kreme store last year some time. In G-town, they are delivered to numerous convenient stores every morning. I will have to say, they are some damn good doughnuts...

Our Krispy Kreme closed down, lol. There are also a few in Nashville that are never busy when I'm there. U can buy them in some of the grocery stores too, so maybe they are over-saturated and people have lost interest. IMO, there's nothing that special about them. They're good, but I think the WalMart bakery doughnuts are just as tasty.

Out here they opened a Krispy Kreme next to an In & Out Burger joint. They both have drive up windows. The lines from both places over flowed onto the road which caused major traffic jams.If you needed to use that road you needed to take detours. This traffic jam lasted for close to a month.
I tried a Krispy Kreme donut & IMO it tasted no better than Duncan Donuts.

Hey sixfive you should of bought about a 1000 dozen boxes last
Monday and flown down to Minnesota. You could of made a fourtune the lines were so long that people were restricted to buying 8 dozen per person. And some people bought 8 boxes and then would go to the back of the line were people were waiting to get in and sell them to the highest bidder in line.

Who would of ever thought we'd see the day people were scalplng damm doughnuts. GOT TO LOVE AMERICA:cool:

that is unreal all for a damn doughnut. i live right by one i could throw a rock and hit and have been there 1 time just cant get that excited about doughnuts. if you eat the glazed throw them in the microwave for a few seconds to me they taste way better warmed up. they have a white castles right next to the krispy kreme you should see those drive thrus from midnight until about 3 every drunk in town shows up and the cops sit over there and wait for somebody to screw up. i agree with the couple of others just another doughnut nothing special.

It will die down. Remember how people used to line up for Cinnabons, but now there's no lines anymore.

Krispy Kreme are coming to Canada or Tim Hortons, they have already opened some stores and believe planning to open over 30 in the first year.

never had one, would never ever line up for it, or anything for that matter, life is too short.

I believe Tim Hortons will be able to do well, have an aunt (Cdn.) living in the US and she said cannot find a good dougnot. Tim Hortons should be able hold its ground and they are also expanding in the US.

as for the stock it has a high multiple, they are quickly buiding more stores so their revenue and earnings are growing quickly, however the stores that are operating for more than one year have a much lower return. When the store buildup is over you have a stock with a high multiple and slow growth, it will come down to earth.

if I played doughnuts it would be through Wendys though own Tim Hortons and they trade at a cheaper multiple.

thanks

Let me put it this way, I weigh about 250 and I would say that I would have to gain some weight to catch up to her!!!!!!!!!!! But I am only 6 feet tall and she might be 6' 0 and 1/4.

As far as taste goes, I don't find them any better than the regular stuff we have around here like Winchell's, etc. They just seem to have a cult following. You can buy them at Dodger Stadium, I think 4 for $4. They have a better marketing plan than they do anything else. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't trying to put as many shops as possible into place to create a tremendously inflated gross sales figure with an eye toward selling.

we had the first krispy kreme doughnut shop right here in mid-town by the old Sears building. When they have the hot doughnt light on you stop and get a dozen. Them things melt right in your mouth. Eat about five or six and down a pitcher of milk ...

The stock is booming i had a chance to buy it at 13 a share. I think its fifty now.
