depends where in Costa Mesa

when are you going? better to book WAY in advance.

www.ocregister.com

You are going to get the "May Grey" then the "June Gloom" on the coast, which takes about to 11-1pm to burn off, if it does? But then you are from Portland  :142smilie

Newport is nice, Balboa just down the Coast.

30 mins South is LAguna Beach and some great hotels there, great food, and art galleries

Then most definately book now

are you going to do the Disneyland and Amusement Park Tour ?

The Angels have a nice Fireworks display that weekend, if they are home, and you can see the fireworks at Disneyland too.

Knotts Berry Farm
Grunion Hunting is fun, if you don't mind staying up till 3 or 4 in the morning?
Day trip to Catalina (You can do that from Long Beach,Newport or Dana Point)
Go to the Wedge in Balboa, and see some massive waves and the guys in there riding, move 100yds no. for a much less destructive break.

you are welcome,

I used to live in Newport, and my parents live 30 mins south of there. So I am pretty knowledgeable of the area.
