Look at the history of the game: Ruth, Williams, Cobb, Musial, Bonds, Gehrig, Carew, Boggs, Gwynn. Mantle was a switch hitter but obviously he batted LH more than RH. All the others were LH hitters. About 10% of the population is left handed but the percentage of great hitters who are lefties is far greater than that.
