Here is some info from URI RAMS
Jan. 18, 2006
Rhode Island (8-6, 2-1 A-10) travels to Philadelphia, Wednesday, for a 4:00 p.m. matinee with Atlantic 10 rival La Salle (10-4, 2-2 A-10). The Rams are 4-16 all-time against the Explorers, but have won three of the last four meetings, including a 81-69 victory in the 2004 A-10 Tournament.
Rhode Island had a week off before traveling to Olean, N.Y. for a 71-66 victory at St. Bonaventure, Saturday, for its second-straight win. La Salle dropped a 68-52 decision at Temple on Saturday night for its second loss in as many games.
Up And Down Season
The 2005-06 season has been full of ups and downs for Rhode Island. The Rams followed up their 5-1 start to the season with a 1-5 skid, before its current two-game winning streak.
Excluding its win over Quinnipiac, URI suffered through a stretch that included four losses where it could only muster 55.2 points per game, while shooting 37.7 percent from the floor and 25.0 from long range. URI appears to be firing on all cylinders again, averaging 71.7 points and shooting 47.8 percent from the field (including 51.1 percent from three-point land) in its last three games.
Dynamic Duo
Having senior guard Dawan Robinson and senior forward Jamaal Wise on the floor instead of the bench seems to spell success for Rhode Island. After struggling through a 6-22 campaign last season in which both suffered season-ending injuries early in the year, the pair has returned this season healthy and are a major why the Rams are tied for third in the latest Atlantic 10 standings.
Robinson leads the squad with 14.2 points and ranks third in the A-10 with 4.5 assists per game, while Wise is second in scoring (11.9) rebounding (5.3) and field goal percentage (.468) for the Rams. Wise has led the team in scoring on seven occasions this season, while Robinson has led the way five times. The two have also accounted for over a third of Rhode Island's total offensive output.
