Leave much earlier than you?re planning. The drive from Chicago to Green Bay is at least three hours depending on where you?re staying in Chicago. Toss in the potential for a snowstorm seeing its December in the upper Midwest and you could be SOL in even getting to Green Bay.
Why not stay somewhere in Wisconsin?
And as far as anything to see between Chicago and Green Bay? I?d see if those who are traveling with you would drive the whole way so you can sleep. :mj07:
If it stays a 12 noon kick, you won?t have time to stop anywhere if you plan on tailgating for any length of time.
Enjoy Lambeau. Any fan of pro football should make a trip there at least once in their lives.

Just made the trip two weeks ago.

100% without a doubt stay here Saturday (THE TRAFFIC IS INSANE): https://www.marriott.com/hotels/tra...ay/?scid=bb1a189a-fec3-4d19-a255-54ba596febe2

You can leave your car there during the game and walk the two blocks...Tailgating is taking place all around you!

If it shows a two night minimum call and ask for the GM and explain you're coming up...They love to accomodate out of towners. They gave me one night at $299 was worth every penny.

I stayed here Friday night (30 mins south of GB):

https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/atwcy-courtyard-appleton-riverfront/

Then we drove up to GB around 2pm and checked in and did the night tour Champions +HOF

https://www.packers.com/lambeau-field/stadium-tours

Before the tour we ate a late lunch in the stadium sportsbar @ https://www.1919kitchenandtap.com/

Then after the tour we went here for a late dinner:

Worth every penny!

Oh and we left after a 3:25 game and it took me 4 hours to get back to Kenosha what would have been 5+ back to Chicago.

On the course!
The most important items for a sitting on metal bleachers @ Lambeau...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008RSY3ZU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/HotHands-Han...9480&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=hand+warmers&psc=1

3 layers of clothing and A MUST WATERPROOF BOOTS. If it's wet or snows and you don't have you're fucked!

All of the concessions are outdoors too...You can warm up in the atrium at halftime.

You just need a piece of cardboard to sit on, and one piece to stand on. Works just fine!

If they are staying by O?Hare or someplace even farther north than that they should be able to reach Green Bay in three hours. If they are staying in the loop all bets are off on how long it could take to get there.

Best tip I got when I was there. If your feet get cold you're fuked.

Plus, don't drink because their bathroom situation is the worst I have ever seen anywhere.

And you better not have to take a shit. Eat a couple Imodium an hour before the game to be on the safe side. If I had to take a shit when I was there, I'm leaving and going to shit in the parking lot. :142smilie

Great info and tips guys, thanks! It is guys trip and my brother has never been to Chicago so hanging there. We can leave as early as needed and it sounds like we need to leave earlier than we thought. As of now not calling for Snow but will be chilly 21/13. Based on the comments it sounds like they let you bring about anything you need in to stay warm. Hate to hear the bathroom situation sucks.

Awesome trip! Left chicago about 530 and made it to GB by a little before 9. Not a car on the road the whole way. Traffic still wasnt bad when we arrived but they did have the roads closed so had to maneuver our way to our house where parking/tailgating. Our house was literally a couple hundred yards from the gates to stadium. People were over the top nice. Not a bad seat in the place, and though it was cold I was prepared. Bathroom situation did get bad at times, but manageable. Great experience! After game we had a few more drinks with the guys and headed out. Traffic leaving did suck. We realized on the way up that the Bears/Rams had a night game so we said screw it, might as well hit Soldier Field as well. Rolled back into town and ubered over to catch the game. Two great fan bases for sure, though they do approach things just a bit different:mj07: No sleep was gotten and great times were had. Everyone needs to do Lambeau/GB at least once!
