i was using it wearing a headset........ could hear the person on the other end just fine, and only one time :) everything i would say was coming right back at me.....(i even tried covering up the holes for the built in mic on the machine itself, in case plugging a mic into the mic jack didn't override it. :(

BM.......you might try the using the "Audio Tuning Wizard" found under "tools". It helps a little, but I haven't found a way to eliminate that obnoxious feedback(I guess I don't like to hear me talk!)......

you mean i wasn't covering it so no sound could get into it? :(

and i did it both ways, with and without it covered, and either way, everything i said was repeated back to me with a 3 second delay or so. makes it hard to hear the person you WANT to hear....LOL

Hamster, i played around with the Audio Tuning Wizard with about every possible combinations of things checked, and it refused to work :(

a couple of years ago, i used to use this laptop for PC to PHONE calling, and never had a problem with it then.....

maybe PC to PC over MSN Messenger is different?

Mama:

Hey first of all, thanks for the congrats last week.

About your feedback, I had that problem before chatting online. The feedback may be because the person you were talking to has speakers instead of headphones like you, so after you talk, his/her mic picks up what the speakers put out and send it back to you, so you get the 3 sec delayed feedback. Try having the other person turn down the volume, or put on a headphone, that will probabaly help.

ddubs, nope, he had on a headset, too :( there was no external sounds feeding back at me from the other end.

gonna try and test the headset from work today, and see if it works right on a desktop.

then take this beast in for service before the warranty expries on Monday, and buy either another desktop or laptop. haven't decided yet, but if the feedback is something that can't be made to go away thru a laptop, i don't WANT another one.....LOL
