Washington St pk over Rider ****
1st round of this tournament is Wash St...then they go to Vegas later on.. it 4 games in 7 days ending in Vegas..think Wash plays SIU-Ed tomorrow nite..this is the best team in the MAAC Rider vs the 2nd or 3rd worst PAC 10 team...Rider is talented and has everyone back from last yrs team...they should of won the MAAC tourney but Bagget their coach couldn't figure out how to beat 7th ranked St Peter in the MAAC Tourney...they did go to the NIT's and Oregon beat them.. I do remember playing Oregon big and they covered vs Rider..
Wash St is 5-0 at home...they did lose to Seattle and recently to Mont St...
They have a good front court that I think will over match the Broncos.. Frank is one of the best small fds in the country...he is avg 24 pts[ 10th in the country} and 8 bds a game...one of the best players in the Pac 10..don;\'t think Rider has anyone to stop or slow him down..Cougs lost a lot of kids from last yrs team that transferred...but a freshman 6'6 Elleby has been spectacular avg 14 pts and 8 bds..They bought in a big time juco player in Wade who is 6'7...thats a pretty good frot court going against a MAAC team.. Let not forget Riders top rebounder is a gd.
Coogs have some decent gds in Daniels who is 17th in the nation in assits-turnover ratio and ranks high in some other categories...he also has 188 career 3 pt shots..Ali is a 5'11 pt gd juco player avg 9 pts a game...this team shares the ball nad avgs 18 assists per game ranking them 19th in the nation... I know they haven't played anybody like the cal Poly,Idaho's ,Del State ,etc...their loss to Seattle Frank did not play.
Rider has 4 returning starters that made All MAAC..this team is loaded..Vaughn who plays Gd-Fd is leading reounder..Allen can shoot the 3..Marshall is 6'9 but plays like a 6'3 player..Scott can score and although 6'8 isn't a power fd..their best player is Stevie Jordan their pt gd..cannot believe its been 4 years but I remember going to a Marist game and seeing this kid play...outstanding handle on the ball...great passer...see's the court..high high pt gd IQ...could play at any level...he neutralizes home court advantages when the Broncos are on the road....
But think in Pullman Riders defense is in trouble..Coogs at home are 5-0..Frank is a big time player, and his partners inside are tough...Wash can shoot the 3 and think with Daniels at the pt he actually neutralizes Jordan.. I don't think Baggett is a good coach but he can recruit...Kent is another coach I'm not crazy about..He had a lot of talent at Oregon even though he did win...he has been at Wash St a few yrs now so I guess he's doing good... they way I capp I take a point or 2 on the coaches...I know that's crazy so I take -2 on Baggett and -1 on Kent..
Think Coogs win this by 6-10 pts...but they better not sleep on Rider...
