Have been to about 25 senior proms overs the years...always had the tell the DJ announce clearly its the last dance...start it at around 11.50-55 and end it as close to midnite...do not go over..we have parents, limo's friends out side waiting ...a little different tonite though its great its the 2 best defensive teams in the country...no one and dones but experience...Vir was on the wrong end of history last yr and are determined to make up for that.. Texas lost its all star team that graduated and are in the last dance..
Vir has that pack line defense that's a little old fashioned and not new...Bennetts dad ran it at Wisky ..Tech runs true motion offense where everybody touches the ball..its screens, back slip, curl and cut...Space and motion are the key and pass fakes watch how many times they pass fake Tonite..there are 2 to 3 cutters constantly moving...Vir divides the court up in half were there 2 bigs stay on each other side...they play great on ball defense Vir on offense will slow the tempo and when they shoot 3 guys drop back for any transition offense..they do not hit the offensive bds..there bigs will be there but they are not going to get beat down the court...
Weakness of Vir..gd penetration.. think Mooney will do that and create someone open... Tech has the best "help side defense and if you watch the feet of the wings they are inviting you to go one way..they over play...Vir offense has 2 blockers and 3 cutters..there blockers screen and "pin" ...Both coaches know what the other's weakness is ...going to lean with Tech +1.5 because I think Mooney can control the ball and attack..its a coin flip...I have a big prop bet on Tech so I have to stay with them.. I didn't hedge it except for the cost of the ticket...really should of but again thats why I'm not in the Caymons retired...

Texas Tech +1.5 over Vir **
Just to mention something... no doubt the Auburn player fouled Key...the ref made a great call since he didn't get to see the replay..some people are saying you let that play out..no way Key would of probably missed it anyway but we will never know...good call...the other call was unreal...I saw it right away and yelled thats double dribble..yet not one announcer mentioned it..it was blatant...he dribbled then went to dribble behind his back and the ball went off his leg,, he picked it up...then dribbled again..no one touched it...there was one ref right on the ball the other was directly across at the mid court... I can possibly see him missing the call because he might have thought an Auburn player reached in and touched it , but if you watch the replay the other ref was right on the player and wasn't blocked out...I am sitting and saying its double dribble yet the announcers never even mentioned it...the refs swallowed there whistle and so did CBS...
I was wondering if all the fans at Westgate,Southpoint etc watching the game were yelling double dribble...just interested or did it no one realize the infraction..

good luck tonite .. Old South owe you big time for trying to keep up with me...Will get your email from MJ and company ..thank you all for the many nice comments and reading those long and boring ass stories...
Now Army's offensive line is looking in pre-season see "Ya'll "in the fall:mj07:

Hey Box,
any thoughts on whether Owens is going to be at/near full strength tonite w/his ankle?

Does Tech have enough backup bigs to take care of business w/a gimpy Owens??

Love Tech's defense the other day.. takes tremendous effort and focus to maintain that intensity defensively for a full game like they do.. great "help defense"!

thanks for the write-ups and insights all season! :0008

Box...Rooting for TT but I love UVA too. I think both teams deserve to win tonight!
Maybe they should change the championship game to championship series 2 out of 3.
I appreciated every post you make and love the stories.
You?re a class act and I have much respect for you!
One day I?d like to shake your hand and buy you dinner...

GREAT BREAKDOWN OF THAT DEFENSE. THEY DEFINITELY FUNNEL YOU TO ONE SIDE AND THEN TOTALLY DISRUPT THE DRIBBLE AND IF YOU DO GET PAST THAT FIRST LINE THERE ARE 3 GUYS WAITING FOR YOU AT THE RIM. THE WAY OWENS WAS RUNNING AROUND DIVING FOR LOOSE BALLS AND SWATTING SHOTS AT THE RIM WAS INCREDIBLE AND VERY FUN TO WATCH.

PERSONALLY, I AM VERY INTERESTED IN THE CULVER/HUNTER MATCH UP. BOTH ARE SIMILAR IN STATURE AND EXTREMELY ATHLETIC AND DANGEROUS WITH THE BALL. I THINK CULVER IS BEST MAN IN GAME TONIGHT WITH ABILITY TO GO ONE ON ONE DRIBBLE DRIVE TO THE BASKET BUT HUNTER IS VERY EFFECTIVE 15 FT AND IN.

I DO THINK UVAs GUARD CLARK WILL PLAY BIG ROLE IN HOW WELL UVA LOOKS/PLAYS TONIGHT. IM NOT SURE MOONEY WILL HAVE TO REPEAT HIS SHOOTING PERFORMANCE FROM 3. I THINK THAT WAS DICTATED BY HOW INEFFECTIVE CULVER WAS ON OFFENSIVE END AS WELL AS MICH ST?s INTERIOR D WAS HELPING OUT ON HIS DRIBBLE DRIVE WHICH IS HIS GO TO WITH THAT LIL STEP TO THE SIDE FLOATER.

I HEAR A LOT OF PEOPLE BITCHING THAT THIS IS GOING TO BE A BORING LOW SCORING GAME WITH NO REAL SUPERSTARS AND IM THINKING ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME, THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT BASKETBALL GAME WITH TWO REALLY WELL COACHED TEAMS...WHATEVER IM EXCITED TO WATCH IT...GOOD LUCK BOX AND I APPRECIATE ALL THE TIME AND INSIGHT YOU POST...ALWAYS A GOOD READ AND NICE TO TRADE THOUGHTS WITH ON THE GAME WE LOVE....CHEERS 🥃

WHEN HE RAN BACK OUT OF THE LOCKER ROOM LIKE THE GHOST OF WILLIS REED THAT DAMN CROWD WENT NUTS. I THINK HE CAN PLAY TONIGHT ON ADRENALINE ALONE.

THIS TEAM LOVES TO PLAY DEFENSE....I BET THEIR FANS WISH THEIR FOOTBALL TEAM HAD A DEFENSE LIKE THIS :mj07:

LOB ... Owens needs to play and at 95% full strength... he has a prop bet of over 2.5 blocked shots but not sure of his status...think he will get over that because he has really elevated his game..

Lunch P the Hunter-Culver matchup is critical ..defensively and even wash.. Culver has more scoring ability but Hunter is also nice...

Hawkeye..made 3 prop bets in Vegas in hoops
Zaga to win it all.... Baylor ladies to win it all but that was for my racquetball partner who is the father of someone very famous that you all know very well.. Doglover knows who this person is but rather not put his name here...

and Texas Tech to win it all

also have Phillies over 89 wins Fleetwood to win the masters.. Texas Longhorns to win the NaT' Football championship ; bought 6 tickets for that..and NY Giants to win the NFL conference [ bought 6 tickets for that one} accidentally have a Oakland raiders to win the Super Bowl if there are any raiders fans out there will sell you the ticket for $5 bucks .. I buy these and give them as Christmas gifts...also a Red Sox ticket...and for that person who won on the Baylor girls bought him a Texas AM and Baylor football championship ticket...think that's it

and just played a Mooney over 11 pts tonite..**
just went to goodwill today and bought a Texas Tech T-shirt..washed it and its drying now...going over to my racquetball buddies house to watch the game... Go Red Raiders promise I will not come back tomorrow and say " why didn't I hedge this " Texas wins this 66-62...

thank you DZ,Boomer and T

Why,why,why...didn't I hedge this ...but I promised not to second guess...dumb on my part....it was an entertaining game...hate to blame anyone but Culver what the freak are you doing..2 bone head plays...up 3 someone drives to the basket..you leave Hunter and go inside to help on a driving player...they don't need your help..if he scores your up 1 and get the ball...why would you leave your wing and go into the paint..once the ball was thrown to Hunter in the corner he had an open jumper by maybe 15 feet...your foot is still in the paint when you realize Hunter is about to shoot,,,you take maybe 4 steps towards Hunter but its way to late..Hunter nails the 3 totally uncontested...that was the one thing you could not let happen ...and with 10 seconds left you force a 3 ..terrible off balance shot..you scored 6 pts driving to the basket in the last 6 minutes.. drive and dish out for someone to get a good look...it still might miss but you need a good look..anyway you shot 5-22 in the last few games...not blaming you because your guys wouldn;t be playing if it wasn't for you..you are young and only a soph but you will probably declare for the NBA...anyway enjoyed the game.. Texas came back 2 times down by 10...Hunter should of got the MVP...its nice Virginia finally knocked out that label " can't win in march"...

take care guys...see you in the fall getting ready for North Texas and Army football..
