Ok boys, hot topic here...

My neighbors bag their clippings when they cut their grass. I dont.
When I trim my grass, what is the proper number of passes that I should direct my clippings inwards towards my lawn when i cut along the property line?
So that my nasty nasty god forsaken clippings dont clutter their lawn.

Keep in mind, when i blow it inwards it makes it tougher on the mower to cut over the tall grass and then all the clippings without bogging down and choking out.

2 passes inwards and then go back to blowing out??? thats what I am thinking but want to get second opinions...
:D

What kind of mower? Push or Ride?

How wide is the mower? 22in?

I would think, from what you have told us, that would be fine.

UNLESS...you have a mower without a sheild on the side and in that case 3 would be better.

Alternatives would be to buy a mulching mower that grinds the pices of grass, therefor not being a problem either way. OR buy a Reel mower; that also would not discharge any grass either way.

If your not going to bag your grass you need to cut it atleast two times a week until July. This way you'll have no clogging.

At least two passes from his property line...

Start in the middle and go out. You would need to start by cutting a square patch in the middle, then just square-spiraling outward blowing the grass into the already cut area. (if your blower is on the right side, you would mow clockwise).

Yes, for a few passes to start you are cutting grass that has clippings in it, but this still works. You get some clumping in the middle because you're blowing into it from all 4 directions, but it's a hassle dealing with your situation, too.

get a mower with a mulcher (sp) but more importantly; keep it mowed regularly, BEFORE it gets too high and you won't have the problem.

What ever you do if you dont like cutting use cheap fertilizer. Dont go and by Scotts that chit is great stuff and you get to cut lots. But man do your weeds go away and the lawn will look great. Make sure what ever mower you have your blade is nice and sharp. If you do still have a push mower. Power ones can be bought cheap. Do your self the favor. Remember you dont always have to cut square. Cut at 45 degree angle. Then when done just have to make one last pass on your property line. Cutting at differnent angles can make lawn look nice. Get that ball field look to it. Doesn't take anymore time.

Hire a lawn care service. It will be the best money you ever spent when it's 110 in the shade and you're watching someone else do it while you drink beer.

if it's too hard to cut blowing it inwards, then blow the clippings on them. A yard of clippings on the property line won't make a difference and probably won't be noticeable. I know that wouldn't bother me as a neighbor, and if it does bother them, blow it in 2 swipes. Not fertilizing is great advice as well, or if u want to get rid of weeds, just do weed killer and not weed and feed. Used to be, u could just hire a kid to do the work for very little money. however, with lawsuits the way they are, I wouldn't let anybody not bonded and insured work on my property (sad:nooo: ) lest you are asking for trouble. Lawn services who qualify are usually very expensive. If you do hire one, tell them to cut it short and only every other week. Sounds like you hate yardwork as much as I do. I'm glad my wife enjoys it!! ;)

As I stood in the rain ealier this morning sprinkling lime in my lawn I thought of you:D just so you know people who have really nice lawns (like me;) ) spend alot of time and money to get it like that!!!! This is something that is achieved over a long period of time! years perhaps............It took me about 4 years to get my lawn to look the way it does and to be quite honest most people that have beautiful lawns are a bit obsessed with it!!! so if you were my neighbor I'd be pissed off too................and would definately resort to bluemounds idea:D as funny as that may sound and would wait for you to take your summer vacation:p :p :p :pand when you returned to a burnt up lawn assuming fertiler is probably no where to be found in your house, I would claim that I was doing the neighborly deed and fertilized for you YUP thats what I would do!

I have lawn service, its the best $$$ we spend in the summer..................!
