How w ould you pronounce this child's name:

"Le-a"

Leah?? No
Lee - A?? Nope
Lay - a?? Wrong
Lei?? Guess again.

This child attends a school in Detroit , MI. Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong.

It's pronounced "Ledasha". When the mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said, "the dash don't be silent." :scared :142smilie

SO, if you see something come across your desk like this, please remember to pronounce the dash.

If they axe you why, tell them "the dash don't be silent."

I don't know what's scarier. The name itself or the fact that I guessed it as soon as I saw the word "Detroit".

Thats just short hand instead of spelling it out--whatever--I have heard some wild ones being a principal for 34 years--for instance Tom--mom wanted it pronounced Toe M

A girl I went to elementary school with was named Luvchr.

La-Vee-Cha was how it was pronounced.

Not nearly as bad as the "dash", but it sure was a toughie when I was 8!
