I just read on ESPN that if Friedgen accepts a buyout that Leach could be their top candidate and also listed Tyrone Willingham or Mike Locksley. I'll be honest, I might think more of Leach than I should but IMO he's a really good coach. Maybe not one of the elite but good enough that he can take average programs and make them competitive and very fun to watch. If Willingham or Locksley gets this job over him you really have to think that something more is going on and that's why he's not a head coach again.

Has to be Leach over the other guys. Mike Leach and Kevin Plank(Under Armour Founder) are good friends. Plank used to play football at UMD and they use UMD just like Nike uses Oregon.

As a MD alum and fan at this point its Leach or bust!

DJP, I never thought of Leach as an ACC guy before I read about the Maryland possibility but I think he would do very well there.

If he does get the job get ready. You'll be very happy one minute and then pissed off the next. He gambles a lot.

Okay, I'm just having my first cup of coffee but..............Tyrone Willingham or Mike Locksley......:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :scared That's when you know you ain't a big time program. Why would you run Fridge out for that. BTW, I would take Leach in a second as the guy can coach and put people in the seats.

Roger, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Why would they NOT hire Leach. He's proved himself while others have done nothing but the opposite yet he still can't land a job. A lot of people are saying he screwed himself when he filed the lawsuit against ESPN and that's why none of the ADs will look at him. You see coaches screw up big time, get programs in trouble and not even win but they get other jobs. He simply didn't get along with the admin at Tech but he won and graduated players.

I see no other hire than Leach. Anything else would be a disaster...

FYI. There is no way they would even look at Locksley right now as a HC candidate.

Agree guys, this list is a joke with the exception of Leach. You know some of these colleges need to get creative rather than recycling troglodytes like Tyrone Willingham. He spit the bit at ND and Washington so we're going to try for a third time?

I think these schools that are passing on Leach, such as Indiana, Colorado and Miami are insane. The guys they all hired do nothing to build excitement about the program like the hiring of Leach would provide. Either we dont know the whole story about Leach or perhaps his asking price is too large. I have no doubts that if Leach had been hired at a school like Vandy, he would of made theprogram a bowl team within a couple of years.

If someone other than Leach is hired, I wouldn't be quick to blame Maryland. You are assuming that Leach would take the job, he could always turn them down.

I just read a report on Orangeblood that it was a done deal with Leach.

I kind of feel like I'm a Maryland fan now. I would love to see him do well there.

I wonder what that means for the Freshman QB O'Brien?? He's had a pretty good year but can't be too happy with this move if leach brings in his on QB....I watched O'Brien play HS football here in Kernersville and was Shocked that he was good enough for Maryland...shows what I know about talent and Football.
