Lesnar, Carwin finally set to clash at UFC 116

One of the most anticipated MMA battles of the year takes place Saturday when Shane Carwin takes on heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar for the undisputed heavyweight title at UFC 116.

Lesnar is a -145 moneyline favorite while Carwin is a +115 moneyline underdog in UFC 116 Odds at betED.com.

Lesnar, 32, and Carwin, 35, were originally going to clash at UFC 106 last fall, but Lesnar had to pull out because an illness ? a bacterial infection in his intestinal track ? kept him from training. That fight was indefinitely postponed when Lesnar underwent surgery in November to close a perforation in his intestine.

In January, Lesnar announced that he would return to the UFC this summer.

Carwin, meanwhile, was rescheduled for UFC 111 in March against Frank Mir to determine the UFC interim heavyweight title. Carwin beat Mir by KO in the first round, becoming the new interim champ.

After the fight, Brock entered the octagon and said: ?It was a good fight, but he?s wearing a belt that?s a make believe belt, I?ve got the real championship belt.?

According to Wikipedia, Carwin?s win against Mir marked the longest fight of his career at 3 minutes and 48 seconds into the first round via stoppage. Carwin's record previously was his MMA debut against Carlton Jones, with the time of 2 minutes and 11 seconds.

UFC 116 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas (10 pm ET, PPV).
