When are they ever going to clean out the prisons of these crazy sentences in the name of war on drugs. What a country we live in to let this continue. I personally have had acquaintances dealt with ridiculous sentences.

I 100% agree he should be out. I don't care if he was the kingpin behind a big distrubtion ring, 20 years is long enough. For this kid any time was too much. Although I think there is more to this story.

Pat Robertson(many of you won't know him but he carries a TON of power in this country) came out recently and said that marijuana should be legal. It shocked a lot of people but one of the main points in his arguement is that too many young adult lives are ruinded because a small amount of pot and it shouldn't be that way.

My thoughts have always been follow the Money, not drug dealers but criminal justice systems local,state & federal. We could save billions eliminating prosecution of most of drug related cases.

appears this kid fell through the cracks in the commutation process...the "pardon attorney" in charge of the recommendation procedure apparently didn`t provide all the facts pertaining to the guy`s situation and didn`t give the commutation a thumbs up..........and apparently that pardon attorney is STILL on the job to this day......who knows why....

20 years is a long time....but,we aren`t talking about marijuana here...we`re talking a deal involving 24 kilos of cocaine...that`s roughly worth around a cool 2 million beans...and that can ruin/kill an awful lot of young people....

nasty situation,no doubt...my gut is,unless there is underlying info that isn`t easily accessible on the net,this guy will be getting out in the relatively near future(given all the publicity his case is generating)...

He was witness to it. He did not buy or supply it, nor was he convicted of anything like intent to distribute or anything. By most accounts, he was simply along for the ride.

The problem is that most human beings believe that common sense should prevail. Common sense dictates that the punishment fit the crime, hence the heavy public outcry for his release.

That is where you come in. Unfortunately, common sense is not something that can be taught or explained and is not exactly essential to survival. At least not in the world you live in apparently.

I know life is a gift and all that........but how some get a "full share" is beyond me man.

Hope that helps Hedgie,
FDC

where there is smoke there is fire :shrug: common sense tells me he was a drug dealer and got the sentence he deserved, he was convicted by a jury of his peers...keep his ass in jail where he belongs

There are too many people in US prisons for non-violent crimes. We also keep criminals in jail a LONG time. This guys is just one of tens of thousands of examples.

It's a corrupt system that law enforcement, lawyers associations and most importantly the prison system perpetuate. It?s in the interest of all those ?groups? to make as many laws as possible, make them as complex as possible, and make the punishments as harsh as possible. Follow the money.

Americans have a very vengeful approach to people who commit crime. Every crime you read about, you hear people are saying "lock them up, throw away the key"...
I get and share that impulse a lot of the time, but it isn?t feasible. We can?t afford, from a cost perspective, to lock up every bad guy in perpetuity.

Common sense tells ME that unless you physically harm another human you probably shouldn?t be put in prison for more than 10 years.

I agree. However, I believe the people who steal money from thousands of people and retirement funds but did not use a gun are the worst and should be put away for a very long long time.

well they did get one guy Madoff. Unfortunately for him he stole off of other rich people. Now if u can break the back of the postal union and steal all of their retirement funds u would be a hero to a certain political party in this country.

i agree with much of what`s been said on this issue...but being the middle man in a 2 million dollar cocaine deal doesn`t qualify as a non-violent victimless crime,imo........maybe nobody was smacked in the head or robbed at gunpoint,but,if that cocaine hits the streets,the crime and mayhem resultant from the deal would be hard to quantify......the guy deserved to do some time...not concurrent(or were they consecutive?) lifetime sentences maybe(based on his involvement,or lack thereof and his prior clean record),but he deserved to do some time(which he did and then some)..... i`m sure the fact that he didn`t roll over on the other conspirators didn`t help much....

based on what i`ve read,i can see the guy`s sentence being commuted...that`s one tough life lesson right there....

Every time you post something stupid, I say to myself "Self" because that's what I call me, Okay, Hedge Frog has peaked, it can't achieve another level ! But you prove me wrong, every day no less !

I can't prove this, but I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts, that should get your attention, that you have seen just about every movie Robert Downey ( I woke up where?) Jr.'s movies since his how many rehab stints?

Sick, and Busted Three Times in Four Weeks, Robert Downey Jr. Becomes the Most Recent Casualty of Hollywood's Heroin Resurgence

Now don't get me wrong, I understand that there are those who have their demons and have overcome them. Some have not and some are still fighting. That is not my point here, I am certain Hedge Frog has seen, All of the Iron Man movies, Sherlock Holmes, The Avengers and whatever else this fuck stick RDJ has appeared in.

Hollywood= FUCK UP MOVE UP

HEDGE FROG= HYPOCRITE !

I would even double down on a case of Hostess Snack Cakes that his kids have action figures of Iron Man !

RDJ's take for Avengers !

Robert Downey Jr. to Earn $50 Million from ?The Avengers?

Hollywood= FUCK UP MOVE UP
