Outright plays (total stake per play: 2pts)
Mark McNulty to win 16/1 e.w. @ Stan James
Jay Haas' entry has pushed up everyone else's odds and that they do appear to be more motivated to win on this Tour than the Ryder Cup player. One such player is McNulty who has yet to win this year after winning the last two events of the 2004 schedule, but he has been 2nd, 2nd and 8th in his last three starts, the latter two on courses on which he struggled last year. He also struggled to 26th last year, but he was in a poor run of form at the time and so that can be discounted, which makes 16/1 good value.
Wayne Levi to win 20/1 e.w. @ BetInternet and William Hill
No discounting Levi's performance last year as he finished in the top-10 and that is something that he has done regularly this season. In six starts in 2005, he has finished inside the top-7 five times and 14th on the other occasion. And having been a wire-to-wire winner only last October, there is good reason to think that he is capable of the same this week.
Don Pooley to win 33/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
Similar story here just without the recent wire-to-wire win, though he did win the U.S. Senior Open in 2002 and looked like he could add the Senior British Open to his collection of majors last year. After an opening 17th place finish in Hawaii, Pooley has finished in the top-10 in four of five starts and finished 12th on the other occasion. Add in the fact that he finished 4th last year and that he failed to finish in the top-10 in five events either before or after last year's tournament, he clearly has the game for this course and is playing well enough to finish very highly again.
