this NBA (and basketball in general) is insanely... whats the word for it, ridiculous doesn't explain how infuriating it is, but yeah - something there in the middle i guess
now ive not been at it as long as many others here, so it may ring a lil hollow coming from such a short timer like me, but fact remains, imo, baskets are closest to on par with coinflip outcomes as any sport that ive seen, in tyhe backdoor, and yes, even frontdoor covers are commonplace.
my record off to a less than auspicious start. i dont imagine myself to be able to buck the trend in difficultly that comes with "capping" (if you want to call it that) baskets, or set the world on fire with some insanely unrealistic winning percentage, but in the back of mind, a part of me kinda still says... it should be possible. we'll see
problem i run into is my inability to dedicate any time (or amount i wish i could) on the weekends to properly track and record my takes, and by time new week rolls around, im either beyond frustrated, or simply resigned to remaining an interested lurker, leaving all the forum posts to more capable persons
yet, here i am
0-2 to start
frustrated and not keeping with criteria, i ventured off the map
getting 7, lost by 9
giving 7, won by four (in game that trailed better part of)
now, washington seems enigmatic in sense that they tend to not really start playing until backs against wall (ha, no pun intended). like john wall, hasta have someone insult him, or feel slighted before he goes all out like he can, and play otherworldly. now, its unfair for me to expect that kind out play night in and night out, i guess - so then they've started to rest these players (teams in general, not wash), because of the grind (or whatever they're going on about)
last night, in non-posted plays, i included all my sides/totals in a parlay, which in of itself is like, absolutely, -THE WORST- idea known to man. but i'm impatient and figured (more hoped really) the gods of percentage would eventually liken enough to throw me a bone- and they did, to an extent. i hit (and pushed on 1) all the NBA action i included, though in doing so, needed to buy points to range of -150 to -160, which, again, in a parlay, i wasnt too overly concerned about. i won, though overstayed my welcome in the winners circle it seems, and saw any hopes of living to play another day (with parlay) dashed when purdue started to look like they were playing 4 against 5 in throttling KU gave'm in the 2nd half last night. at one point, looked like purdue put a high schooler in there to get some playing time [Tommy Luce missed free throw]
Cancelled NBA Phoenix Suns/Brooklyn Nets Over 224 -150*
Win NBA San Antonio Spurs -6 -175* vs Memphis Grizzlies
Loss College Basketball Purdue +7 -155* vs Kansas
Win College Basketball Michigan/Oregon Under 148 -140*
Win College Basketball West Virginia/Gonzaga Under 152 -160*
Pending College Basketball South Carolina/Baylor Under 137 -150*
Win NHL Nashville Predators -150* vs Calgary Flames
onward - and ... onward
so yeah, from frustration (coupled with the full court pressure of impatience) i opted to put the entirety of my eggs, into a couple of poorly performing squads prior to that^ - and suffice to say, that too, never usually ends well - asking bad teams, to perform well for you. is it insanity? well, not exactly, i mean, a lil stupid for sure, but not insane. insane is defined by continuing to do the same thing over and over, and expect a different result. well, even still, i still actually do that - though now's the hope - the here, now and... ...here, and here and now... that hopefully i turn the corner of being insane and can limit my ineptitude to merely being mediocre (not mediocre and insane). i'm baby stepping along the way (ala bill murray) so we'll see.
though im gonna leave it all out there (on weekdays at least) my journey along the way
wrong lines of just guesses - yeah, we'll go with guesses from here on..see how we do
btw, is there a player that looks less like he belongs in the association than Dudley of PHX? not a fan of earl watson either. phx looks to be all booker - then not much else
19 days ago, PHX and BOS matched up, with suns as a 5 pt dog - going up against a HORFORD-less celtics team. for reasons i cant fathom, the betting public 'supposedly' sided with suns at a 2-1 clip that night, and in doing so, was not only on right ATS side, but outright winning team too.
so, whats changed that now finds suns catching 16.5 and climbing? well home court changes. the celts look healthy, and the suns, looks disinterested in playing a full game -or- perhaps just plain overmatched vs recent opponents(?)
upon further digging, the celts - whenever a fav of 8 or more are a perfect 0 for 9 this year. in those games they've managed to go 7-2 in the Over/under area

does their high fav struggles continue? against a team that when last faced, lost to - mind you, is THE largest spread they've been favored by, and prolly will be, all year. or will #10 try be lucky for them?
with that stat - them giving 16/17 is, silly. it is. yet, wholly plausible (as anything in NBA is)
things is PHX last played uninspired 2H vs BKLYN - in dropping their 6th straight. in all those games, the games have stayed under the number - going back even the game prior, for a 0-8 over under streak their last 8.
BOS has alternated their last 5 ov/un results, while prev 5 games, went 0-4-1 ov/un
lets keep talking unfathomable - as, at the time of this writing, the suns are supposedly - again- garnering 2/3rds the plays, yet, find the line going in opp direction (against them)
