I love me some dirtbag baseball. On in 5 minutes against Texas.... when I was 10 11 12 13 14 playing travel ball there was a team out of Long Beach called the dirtbags... I remember this kid named Danny Ferris who played for them and then came to our team... his mom is Korean and his dad is white... this dude at 12 13 years old was already 6 feet 2 something... anyways he was a pitcher and had lost the game... after the game we had a team meeting and I guess it was kinda close to the parents up along the fence... Danny is crying slumped over holding an ice pack on his arm and says to his dad who was a "coach" at the time "I'm thirsty"... his mom yells out .... "drink your tears"... :142smilie oh man. I will never forget that. I think his dad brought him some water ... San Diego Cobras were are true rivals.... San Diego stars north were good... Glendora rebels... peninsula waves... walnut Yankees were good.. Gary brown played for the walnut Yankees and then came to our team around 14.. I think he's in the giants organization now.... I remember Freddy freeman came to our practice when I was about 11 and was going to play with us but his mom passed away and we never heard from him again... Freddy Freeman is an absolute stud... if you don't know now you know... I would do anything to go back and start over at 8 years old again playing with my first travel ball team... The Yorba Linda Bulldogs with Mark Corbit... that was my head coach who scouted me when I was 7 playing the pitching machine league in La habra... travel ball was serious back then... especially when I hit 10 -14 and actually started to travel out of state.. we even had out of state rivals where we knew it would come down to us... jersey shore thunderbirds were always a good match... man I miss those days

We were probably 13 at the time and we were playing in the championship against the cobras in a small tournament in corona... We had Matt Morris on the mound who thre some gas(just a few games with us his main team was the Glendora rebels I think ) anyways ... Justin pooler comes up and hits a bomb over the fence... I told Matt right after he hit.. I says man he pissed all over that one... couple innings later their lead off hitter Gary brown comes up to the plate... (fastest kid I'd ever seen by the way) and hits a seed right threw my legs... as I'm walking the ball up back up to Matt he goes... damn he pissed all over that one

One time at the triple crown World Series in Colorado we were playing in the championship against the Utah Highlanders..we had payed a double header against the mavericks and someone else before playing the third game that day... triple header...ending up losing the championship game by a few runs...at the end of the tournament I think the top 4 or 5 teams meet at the top of a ski lift and they give out awards to the top players and trophies if I can remember right in like a restaurant or something like that at the top...anyways the MVP always goes to someone on the team who won the championship right. .. wrong... I made zero errors and batting 6.14 during the tournament. I left them with no choice :popcorn2

As we got older and more clever... 13 14 we would put eye black on the inside front brim of your hat when you were on deck or at the plate... worked every time

There was this team a couple years older than us, most of the kids came out of the Huntington Beach area I think.... they had the greatest name.... The Mamas Boys.... and these guys were fukin good.... really good. I'm pretty sure Hank Conger used to play for them growing up.... anyways we were watching them in Henderson nv one tourney waiting for our game... these guys must have hit about 8 home runs in a span of about three innings, amazing... speaking of Henderson there was this team in are age group who always seem to give us a good match... they were called the Nevada wilds cats... the team would travel in a huge custom Rv that had there logo printed all over it.... that was pretty Dam cool. I think they had 4 different unis to choose from too...

On the course!
Yorba Linda Bulldogs

I remember them well. I played for their farm team. The Yorba Linda Carlisles

It was a real go-go atmosphere, and I get weak just thinking about those days. If heaven is a place on Earth, that would be it. I'm mad about you starting this thread before I could.

Not to brag or anything but I started playing ball at age 10, 1972 for The Rockland Little League bases ball team Kiwanis......First at bat and first pitch I jack one over the right field fence, 2 run dinger off from Mark Fiske (you may have heard of him), we eventually lost 26-2......I got my name in the paper.....

My last at bat in my career was in 2000, Rockland Mens League Softball for Wayfarer East Hotel, last inning top of the seventh tied at 17 (I believe) I jack the go ahead Grand Slam down the right field line 3/4 of the way up the old oak tree (it's still there, I pause and reminisce each time I drive by the field ), we closed out the game in the bottom half of the inning for a 21-17 Championship Win, many still chat about it.....I retired soon after from competitive sports.........I got my name in the paper again.......Not many can say they started and ended their career with homers, but I can.........:0008

Bulldogs were the first team to sign me at 8... 2 year contract.... straight from the pitching machine league which is stated above... Never played little league or all stars.... after that 2 year contract was up I became a free agent... south county blue jays signed me to a 1 year contract... are practice fields were inside of Cota de caza... are head coach... Coah cliff lived in the neighborhood.... took 5th in Cooperstown at 10 beating the southern California bombers and then got beat the next game by the Long Beach dirtbags.... I found myself a free agent again and then signed a six monther with the Orange County spikes.... we beat the Southern California bombers in the championship at the kenko ball tourney... that tourney some idiots were scouting kids to take them to Venezuela and play a tourney.... somehow I got over looked... after the Orange County spikes team went bank rupt and I was picked up by the Southern California Bombers.... 2nd time I played in Cooperstown with the bombers this team that knocked us out was full of shit. The Woolsey wizards... I can't remember where they were from but one of the coaches had a field on his property and would fly kids in from around the country to his field... have them practice together for a couple days and then go play the tourney.... struck out 4 times that game. I think we only lost by 2. Fuckers
