Thanks DTB - looking forward to the coming golf season, but I only have time enough for one sport at a time.

sports student is in the running for the much bigger prizes in the Infinity NFL contest - GL this week!!!

Here's my post from the football contest thread:

"whewwwwwww!! I'm honestly glad I was playing for $500 instead of $5000, or I"d have choked as sure as anything.

Thanks for the congrats - Thanks to Jack for our awesome website - Thanks to IE for delivering the good news and doing all the heavy lifting - Thanks to 5dimes for sponsoring a contest with so much natural interest, and offering a book where I can try to put the prize money to good use against their excellent golf lines.

I'll send an e-mail to Jack tonight!

I rarely even enter the weekly golf contests because I rate my capping as below average to dreadful when the games or matchups I have to play are predetermined or selected for me, instead of being able to pick and choose when to play or pass from a hefty slate. And I'm not much of a totals player. So I don't know what came over me, although I was "en fuego" with totals all season on both Monday and Sunday nights, I had my full quota of breaks (12-0 the last six weeks), while taking my bad beats in other games, and I did study ridiculously hard on the Monday night games during the past month.

It's a great feeling to finish 1st in something involving the awesome cappers around here, but I don't really enjoy the part about winning at someone else's expense. I don't know what happened to TJBell on Monday, and coming down to the tiebreaker with Bandit had me flashing four fingers at the screen during much of the 4th quarter the way the players do; with Mike Martz having his boys chasing the Keystone State cops I pictured disasters on every snap, and it was only during the last couple of snaps that I was feeling flush. :yup

Hi guys, surprised to find myself in your thread, have only been checking the forum here a couple times in the last 2 months. Thanks for the support. Kind of a longshot for one of the top spots but you never know. Won some big money in the Bowmans contest last year so am just happy to be in the running here as it is usually hard to have something big happen in back to back years. Spend a lot of time cruising the forums and I don't think there is any that comes close to the golf forum here. Am looking forward to golf season which is coming up fast. I just have to remember not to overplay early in the year and be patient. Good luck this year.

its almost halftime of the 2nd games and I am totally out of the running being 0-4 so far. Have not looked at all to see how others are doing and still hoping to stay in top 10. Totally went the wrong way today. Last year I was one game out in 2nd place in the Bowmans contest and played the games normally without going against playoff teams possibly resting their players. Ended up tied for 1st because luckily nobody close to the top did well, going only 4-4 last week but lost the tiebraker which "cost" me 10,000. Almost all the "obvious" selections won This year I overthought the selections trying to figure out who would rest players, what teams would quit early in the game etc, instead of playing the value in the line and I screwed up the other way. TIME FOR GOLF SEASON !

Have a golf question for you guys-if I am getting into your secrets just ignore me :)- because there is such a short offseason for golf, do you think there is a carryover effect for most golfers or does January start a totally new season ? I have only played a few seasons now and so far for me I would have been a lot better off if I would only go on what is happening in the current year.

Yes Sir Ageecee Didn't know you slid down here to our little nest--and special thanks on Iowa cue ;)

SS. Just my opinion but think carry over would suffice if not for events being played in Hawaii with VERY grainy green and Kona winds. Some players hate this and won't play acknowedging it is harmful to their game. Last year Kona winds blew 20-25 mph every rd except 3rd (8 to 10 mph) and if you look at scores you will see big 3rd rd diff. WhileI usually give current form big edge over course form I do just opposite here--and will look to good course form players over poor-- some examples of poor in all Hawaii events not just Mercedes-

thanks DTB. This is why this is such a great forum. Been getting by just from studying the stats and watching the players but don't know any of the characteristics of the different golf courses. Have a long, long way to go. Learn a lot of good things here.

Another thing to consider...where have players been for last few weeks? If they've been in Florida bashing balls then fair enough, but some live in less sunny climates (Sluman?)... they may start a little slower in January?

Good point Clive---and while your here is there anyway we could get you to do a weekly report like you did at your old site especially on the Bush.I sure miss all those hidden gems. I believe you to be the best informed on goings on in that tour I have seen. I will reward you with copy of their yearbook if they put one out this year, however believe they did not have one last year--correct?.
