hope to be back playing at the Evian Masters in France at the end of July," she explained. "Another goal is to be fit enough to be considered for the Solheim Cup in America at the end of August."
Matthew has already played in three Solheims, gained Europe's winning point in Sweden in 2003 and she was one of the best home players at Helsingborg two years ago.
She hopes to do enough to convince Captain Alison Nicholas that she is worthy of a wild card.
Currently ranked No.43 in the world, she said: "There's really no chance of me getting one of the automatic picks (she would need to be one of the top four Europeans in the world rankings] but I would like to think that I'll be considered for a captain's wild card."
Matthew has competed full-time on the US-based LPGA Tour for the past 14 seasons, and her husband Graeme is her caddie. For the past two years, their daughter, Katie, has been alongside them on Tour.
The Matthews already know that it is a second daughter who will be the new addition in May.
