Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has confirmed that he would be interested in taking over as England coach after this summer's World Cup finals in Germany.

Current England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is set to vacate the role after the tournament and the Brazilian, who guided his home country to World Cup success four years ago, is only under contract with Portugal until July.

Scolari told the BBC: "Yes I would like the job. After I finish my contract in Portugal I will consider all offers.
"England have a fantastic national team. But it is not for me at this moment. I am very happy in my job with Portugal.

"But when I finish my contract in July I will be free.

"I am a good coach and a man of the world. Portugal are a better team now than before.

"I am happy in any country. I have worked in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Brazil.

"If I want to go to England, I need to learn the language better and know more about the job.

"That could take two or three months but is not a problem for me.

"The language of the players I know very well. But it is important to communicate to the people."
