Iona vs Monmouth
Iona although is under 500 is again playing in the championship game...as they say here in MAAC country" all roads to the NCAA go through New Rochelle {Iona}..they have won 3 in a row and think 5 of last 8 have been to the big dance...they always lead in almost every offensive category in the MAAC and are in the bottom of almost every defensive category...but Cluess their coach who I call NoCluess has been there 8 years and has won 20 games every year except this one..so its maybe me that has no cluess because he wins and goes dancing every year...then before the season starts Griffin his only real inside threat who is a 50 FG% shooter...has a fight with the asst coach and knocks him out...at first Cluess wants to suspend him even though he denies it...but Iona is a Catholic school and the President is having none of that...they have enough problems with pedophiles in our religion so Griffin is not suspended but kicked out of the university rightfully so... then the season starts
Iona struggles and beats Albany by 4 and Hartford by 5...then goes out west and gets smoked by New Mex and Long beach.. then plays a tough schedule losing to Prov,Ohio,VCU..then plays some Ivies and loses to Columbia,Princeton and Yale...in last 2 they give up 85 and 98 pts..think those are still seasons highs for them...then the famous Holy Cross game..they get upset...What has happened to Iona?? Westchester newspapers all over Cluess..the reign is over...after dominating for the past 8 years its over.....but hold it...MAAC starts on Jan 3rd...they win the 1st 3 of 4,lose a few in a row and then it starts...they have won 8 in a row...knocked of Rider the favorite beat Peter by 2 and beat the home team saints 73-77 yesterday...Iona is back..but wait a minute,,where they ever gone...they are 16-15 and a win tonite gives them a 17-15 big dance record..last yr as the 15th seed they drew Duke ...so tonite 8 eastern,7 central the play Monmouth..What Monmouth..how the hell did they get there..6th in the MAAC with a 14-20 record...there best player Seaborn left the team because some agents planted in his head he is NBA materiel.. he didn't even get drafted and was cut from the NBA G league...he would of been the POY of the MAAC...but you know what...there in the finals w/o him...
King Rice the Monmouth coach after what he did this week is amazing just give him the coach of the year..they lost 20 games last yr and lost their 1st 11 games this year.....0-11 start...and tonight they have a chance to go dancing....
