Kent St is the better team here....but I wont go against Charlie Cole - he always strives on having the best defense in the league...no matter what. Iam staying away from the game....

A big difference b/w a school like CMU with Kaman and Kent is that Kent has much more firepower in the post position:

SO F Nate Gerwig, 6'9" 260 (9ppg/4rpg)
JR. C John Edwards 7'0" 245 (8ppg/4rpg)....... and of course
SR F Antonio Gates, 6'5" 250 (22ppg/12rpg)

Miami was able to help out/collapse quite a bit on Kaman, however, that will be much more difficult with Kent as I would expect to see 2 of the 3 listed above playing at the same time.

In addition, Kent has been getting some quality minutes from 2 of its guards

JR Eric Haut (6')...shooting 53% from 3 range (23-43) and 15ppg
SR Anthony Wilkins (6'7") 44% from 3 range (22-50)12 ppg

How about the Akron/Ohio match up??

Ohio's record seems bad, but they have played some preety good teams and have kept them close. Just want your thoughts.

THanks

Mid-American Conference play begins in earnest Wednesday night as Ohio hosts Akron at the Convocation Center. The Bobcats (3-6, 0-1) lost their first MAC game at Toledo on December 7th. The Zips (6-4, 1-0), meanwhile, started league play with a 105-104 overtime win over pre-season MAC West favorite Ball State. OU is 2-0 at the Convo this season and its recent win over St. Bonaventure and narrow loss to Kentucky would seem to indicate improvement in the team's play.

Two junior college transfers have reinvigorated the Akron program. Leading scorer (21.5 PPG) Derrick Tarver came via the City College of San Francisco. The 6-4 Akron native shoots 49% from the floor and 37% (20-for-54) from 3-point land. 6-1 point guard Johnny Hollingsworth arrived from Wabash Valley JC and dishes out 4.3 assists per game to go with his 19.6 scoring average. Joining the new guard tandem are returning forwards Darryl Peterson and Andy Hipsher. The 6-5 Peterson, an All-Mac Freshman Team member a year ago, is scoring 14.7 points a game. 6-8 Hipsher was a pre-season All-MAC pick and looks to be healthy this season after being bothered by injuries most of his career.

Tim O'Shea's squad looks to get revenge for last season's controversial 74-73 loss to Akron at the Convo. After Brandon Hunter scored to put Ohio up 73-72 with 2.7 seconds play, referee J.D. Collins whistled Patrick Flomo for fouling Darryl Peterson on an inbounds pass. Peterson hit both foul shots for the victory.

==============================================

I think this will be a good game. Akron plays mainly with their guards where Ohio plays around Brandon Hunter. If Branon Hunter is hot - they do good...simple as that really. I honestly dont see Ohio covering this 7.5...line is allready down to 6....

Iam gonna stay away here...If I was gonna play it..I would want the 7.5....you might wanna check the line 5 minutes or so before tipoff....if it goes to 5 Iam gonna play Ohio....

Good Luck :)

Been a while since I checked in, geez judging by your record you have been on a great run, way to go.

I like the Zips tonight. This team is going to continue to improve as all of the new faces mesh together. Hollingsworth in particular is very impressive. He takes great care of the ball and can score from anywhere. Tarver can be a loose canon at times but when hot he can score from the parking lot. Both guards however are great at penetrating and are not afraid at all to mix it up inside. As a result the Zips are going to the F T line at an alarming rate, I believe they shot 52 Fts vs. Ball State last saturday.

I would not say O U 's O'Shea is the best coach in the MAC, in fact far from it. The Bobcats under achieve year after year and Hunter often sulks when things don't go his way. The Bobcats can look fantastic one night then look like a community college team the next game. The Zips appear to be comfortable playing in Athens and won there with a much less talented team last year. If they get a few whistles, they can win this game straight up.

PS: if Kaman can't go I can't pull the trigger on CMU but good luck to those of you that are on the chips tonight.

Very nice call on CMU tonight even though I didn't take them.

Had Marshall and Kent.

CMU game easily the easiest on the ol' Blood Pressure.
