Phillip Archer to beat Niall Kearney -130 @ Five Dimes
Tour rookie Kearney has struggled this year - two missed cuts in two European Tour events - but it appears to have also affected his confidence ... not have a high enough eligibility ranking to get into Tour events in recent weeks, he turned to the Kenya Open on the Challenge Tour two weeks ago, but missed the cut by eight shots! Archer was playing on the main Tour that week and finished 45th to highlight the gap between these two players.

Round 2 play (4pts):

Mark F. Haastrup to beat Luke Goddard -135 @ Five Dimes
Huge difference between these two. Haastrup has made the cut in four out of five European Tour events this year; Goddard is starting out on his professional career after being the 2009 English Amateur Champion and a member of last year's Walker Cup squad. That didn't go too well for him ... he was selected for one of the fourcomes matches and lost 6&5 and then lost his Sunday single match 8&6 to Cameron Tringale. It doesn't appear that his form has improved this year. In his only previous Tour start this season, he played in the Kenya Open two weeks ago on the Challenge Tour and missed the cut by some distance. It looks as though he will remain outside the cut line after the conclusion of the second round of this event.

Lorenzo Gagli to beat Lasse Jansen -155 @ Five Dimes
Opposing Janzen who has only played in two Tour events since he lost his Tour Card on the Challenge Tour in 2008. He did make the cut in one event on the Challenge Tour last year in Denmark, but in his sole Tour event this year, he missed the cut in a Tour de Las Americas event. He now lies 17th in a European Tour event so he has greatly overachieved so far this week and it will be a big surprise if he can maintain this form. Gagli finished 45th in the last European Tour event and so is much closer to his normal level.

Round 4 play (2pts):

John Parry to beat George Murray -110 @ Five Dimes
Murray may be clear in second place and in perfect position to put pressure on the leader, but this is a big step up for a player who last year missed the cut in more than half of his event on the Challenge Tour. Parry, by contrast, has made a very succesful step up from the Challenge Tour to the European Tour. In his last five starts, he has finished 10th, 26th, mc, 38th and 36th. He currently lies fifth and, while he is very unlikely to win from nine shots back, he could further consolidate his chances of retaining his Tour Card for 2011 if he remains in the top-5.
