won't fool around with the confidence levels, as they are so obvious. as i said, don't have much to do today, so i took the time to go over the postings at the mj/acesgold contest, right up to igor, and this is what they show, team, for/against:

sandiego 25-3 hilton #2 pick.
phil 22-4 hilton #3 pick.
minn 21-4
tenn 16-2
miami 15-4
jets 14-0 hilton #1 pick.
balt 13-5
st louis 12-2
ariz 11-5
wash 10-3
indy 10-5
detroit 10-6

rest is insignificant. comments???

Is it better to go with or against the census? Does anyone know what happened in week 1?

In a pool I am in, it pays to go against the consensus. I think most people in the pool do no more than look at the lines and make a selection as opposed to handicap like many here at MJ's and in Hilton contest.

The top three in that pool are:

GB - 82%
Jets - 78%
Miami - 78%

Another pool which I am in for the first year has you pick top 3 bets, assigning 3-2-1 points. A friend who has played in this pool says it pays to go against this concensus and also to fade a particular player. Anti concensus went 2-1 week 1 and the *player* went 0-3. This weeks concensus and player picks are:

Concensus:

JETS
BALT
MINN

Player:

DET
SEA
CHI

Personally I feel more confident fading the players picks as these aligned with 2 of my own plays (Cle & Phi).

It will be interesting to see how these pan out. I will keep track as the season progresses.

The Jets are obviously a hugely popular pick across all spectrums. It will be interesting to see what they do......how can they possibly lose to New England

With the Concensus I post on the College Forum it pays to go with the Concensus... I usually use the Concensus to be one of many tools to sway me towards making my picks... The Concensus I have been posting has been winning with a very good percentage.... I really appreciate the Concensus you have just posted... Good luck Tommorrow.... Hope everyone has a big Sunday...

one thing that is very obvious:

the partial consensus here is a lot more determined than the hilton, where picks were all over the place.

if i have the time i will finish recording the picks after 1pm tomorrow, just to see what the mj guys are made of.

i wonder what the numbers were with minny (here) last week.
