Argentine boxer Barrios charged with murder


BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) ? Argentine boxing champion Rodrigo Barrios testified on Monday before a prosecutor in a murder case in which he is accused of killing a pregnant woman in a car accident in which six others were injured.
Police said Barrios, 33, ran a red light on Sunday, and struck another car in the coastal city of Mar del Plata, about 400 kilometers (250 miles) southeast of Buenos Aries.

The force of the crash carried the second vehicle into the path of seven pedestrians, killing one of them. Witnesses said Barrios fled the scene and struck another car as he drove away. He is a former WBO world junior-lightweight champion.

I hate drunk drivers...I had a friend killed early in the A.M. once by a guy who drove right over the divider line....he was wasted and had all kinds of coke in him.....she was only 17 at the time and on the way to school.....

if Barrios comes back clean then maybe its just one of those horrible tragedies on both sides....but this is one reckless dude....I always imagine valero in a situation like this as well (god forbid)....some dudes....the in ring persona fits the lifestyle....Barrios was a wild man in and out of the ring....he is deep dog shit now....

no mention of alcohol....if he has a clean record and it was just vehicular homicide(being that he`s only 33),in most states at least,he`d have half a shot at having a decent portion of his life to look forward to.....

argentina(as well as fleeing) is another story....

very sad......i think what i remember most is his brutal war with freitas and his exposing of "mighty mike" anchondo....
