I just turned 21 and I'm going to Vegas for the first time to gamble. I gambled quite a few times at those indian reservations and found that the best game for me was blackjack. I know they don't offer all the games Vegas does, so is there any better games in Vegas to make money on. I'm not to fimiliar with that many games except for blackjack.

What would you guys recommend playing? and what type of money management do you guys use or recommend for someone who isn't an expert.

I like craps myself but I would say either craps or blackjack are the best table games.

The key to making any money in Vegas is to get off the tables quick if things are going bad. Don't press you have plenty of time to make your money back, its open 24 and 7 so if things aren't going well, chill out for a few hours have a few drinks, check out the talent, etc. At the very least change tables, if you sense things are going downhill, get up, its not that hard. I don't know of any more frustrating experience than trying to ride out a cold streak at a poor table, because you are not having any fun and you just end up getting pissed off that you wasted a lot at one table.

Other than that playing marathon games at any of the tables is probably going to get you in trouble sooner or later, no matter how good things are going. Early on especially..take small wins, sit down for a half an hour, get up $100-150 and walk around for a while. Your confidence stays high and you've got more money in your pocket to play with later.

One last piece of advice that I would have is bet bigger once you feel you are getting the cards or the dice are hot. This is the time to up your bets not when you are desperate to get something back. Bet very small when things are going poor, don't go for one big hit, it doesn't work that often. But just leave the table when its bad, that's the best advice I can give you.

Start reading and highlight everything that makes sense to you.

I can't recommend a good blackjack book, but I'm sure someone in here could.

You might want to search Madjack's "Casino Gambling" Forum.

Top three:

1 Sportsbook, sportsbook, sportsbook
2 Poker
3 Pass line full odds/come bets full odds at craps

Number 3 is really not a money maker in the long run, but these three should allow you to at least lose your money slower than your buddies in the pit.

I would have to agree with Phil Turcotte on his top three, it doesn't hurt that he's a Sox fan either.

I was on the losing end of some really bad weekends in Vegas in my younger days, mostly because when I go to Vegas, I cannot sleep. This meant I was spending a hell of a lot of time on the tables. When I was younger the only games I knew were blackjack and craps. I also did not know how to walk away from a bad table so I would sit there and lose, lose, and lose some more.

In my mid twenties, I learned how to play poker pretty well. Now when I go to Vegas and can't sleep, I find I can play 6-8 hours at a time because you can manage your money much better in a poker game than you can in a table game like blackjack. If you are patient, a game like Texas Hold Em is great for people who like to gamble for long periods. Sure you will be throwing away most of your hands but the key is you won't be losing money on them.

Blackjack and craps are so fast that when things go bad, your money goes quick. So I recommed poker but it does take a lot of consistent play to become a good player. But there is software that you can buy and play for free, so you can learn to play inexpensively.

I frequent the sportsbook quite a bit too.
