Is anyone interested in discussing a $$$ management system that you would use only on win plays or sports betting?

I posted a thread in the General Forum but not much response there

If you are reading this, you already know that this game will eat you alive (along with sports wagers) if you don't manage your $$$
-monster hits only carry you so far. . . .

I am about 30 minutes from Gulfstream Park and Pompano Harness Track is one block away--(they're all crooks :nono: )

Good to see your input and respect your opinion, however I strongly disagree with that strategy. Each person has their beliefs on what makes them $ in a tough game. My personal feelings on the matter is if one limits theirselves to only playing win bets, it's usually either lack of confidence in ones handicapping ability, or not willing to take a risk for the big $. For a broad example, if one plays 100 races in a month at $20 to win per selection, would have to hit 40% at an avg. of $10 per win ticket just to double your money. Personally I know of nobody that can do that on a consistent basis, and I'm sure that you can tell from my selections I've been putting in here since I've found this new toy, I can't. I do however have total confidence in my abilities to hit big exotics on regular basis to keep me ahead. I have to, it's my job. This is not for everyone, but it's completely different than sports wagering for me, and that's also my job. Didn't plan on rambling on, just got in here to put some selections up for Patternseeker, Jrdhorse and any others that might want consider what I'll be playing tomorrow.

will put up selections tomorrow. ( today now)

Don't believe you understood the post-

I haven't offered any system or advice yet

I was just wondering if there is an interest in discussing the topic

If we talk win bets or sports betting-
that's a start

I think this is a good thread, Dr. Horse players, at least some that I've been around, can have egos as big as a house. Not that they win consistently, mind you, but if they have a feel for a horse. . .well, you know, guess that is the touting traditional.

That's why I think this forum is very cool. Folks like WGH, Jrd, Valuist, Allnet, griff, DOGS are willing to share information -- and man, am I glad to get it.

I'm not sure I understand dogfish's remark about place bets being a false sense of security. There are people who use systems like 1 unit to win, 2 to place (like Brohamer); others go 1 unit to win, 3 to place. Within the last six months, when I have taken to logging what I wager --- instead of trying to remember it after 10 beers -- I am finding that I hit the place wager about twice as often, so I'm interested in exploring how to make this fact more beneficial to me.

And I agree with WGH about the exotics. The trick for me is construst a ticket (yes, I'll admit it, I have boxed six horses for a 1 buck tri before --- there, I've said it: Forgive me, Father. . .) that doesn't bust my bankroll.

Thanks for the thread.

Oops, Dr. got anything for drunks letting off some steam after gettin ass kicked in sports for last 3 weeks? I guess the point I was making with help from bud, was that I will never make JUST win bets when I'm confident there are live longshots in a race that will be overlooked in the exotics. They are difficult to hit and you can't make the mistake in thinking every tri or super will pay the big $. But, if you can pick your spots good the rewards are well worth the wait.

Only took 5 min. to type this mornin' , took 30 min. last night. Hopefully that clears up my stance on horse wagering, not saying it's right or wrong, but it has paid off for me, and I must beleive there's one today for me. Now if only all my "buddies" could pick a few more losers today in roundball, I'll have a bit more $ to invest in my ponies.

Glad to see some response

We are all losers in the long run

Look at the so called 'experts'
They pick sports at a 45%-55% clip
(then subtract the vig and what's left - nothin')

That is why internet gaming is a multi-billion dollar business and Vegas builds new Casinos every year

The only way to turn things around is $$$ management

I'm sure there must be some books or information posted on the Internet on the subject

As far as letting off steam-
I always say
When you win- Have a drink and a cigar
When you lose- Reach for an icepack and lie down

PS- Definition of an EXPERT
An EX ia a has-been while a SPERT is a drip uinder pressure
