I just read that they had a 1billion dollar bust in Cali. They also said that Arnold thinks it's time to have debates on whether it should be legal or not. It would be very interesting to see what kind of tax revenue they could get from making it legal. For such a liberal state with money issues it seems like a great idea.

So Cal
I have nothing against marijuana and couldn't care less if its legalized. In California, anyone who wants it can get it with ease.

One argument that doesn't fly, though the teengers love it. Evidently because it is "natural" that makes it good or at least not harmful. Well, I can think of several poisonous plants and animals that are likewise "natural". That isn't a good standard for its legality.

Agreed not a good arguement, but thats why we dont eat those animals and plants, they can be harmful to you. This imparticular plant isnt harmful...possibly less harmful thn alcohol. I think if a person wants to spend life getting high, allow them to, whos missing out on what....besides them. Let the addicts be addicted if they choose (obviously they do CHOOSE to be addicted--whether its heroin, coke, crystal, weed, I dont care...leave them be let them live in areas known as such and let the rest of society prosper and grow. If you give resistance they will struggle, if you let them go and get high until they figure its not worth it or they kill over, it eliminates the need. I would hope noone wants to live as an addict but sadly there are. Legalize the soft or "recreactional" drugs and minimize the crime that comes along with it----partying. Everything has its limits and boundries so rules need to be inplay as alcohol is, but overall enjoy what you like, ITS YOUR LIFE!!

Hard to argue with that. I agree. But I'm sure someone here will have a different view.

There are always cases where someone will take advantage or make a complete ass out of themseleves in any situation with any substance. I knew a guy/goon in highschool who was addicted to whippets, no not the dogs. That would be a real problem

this has already been looked into. projected tax revenue would be 1 billion a year.

its an illegal drug, it should stay that way

:nono:

You should ask yourself why it's illegal. It's not because of the "drug" factor, it's because of fat cat politicians who wanted hemp production decreased as to NOT compete with other resources specifically cotton.

It's one of the oldest commodity moves politically to ever happen...

I never understood peoples fascination with pot. I smoked it a few times in college and had an OK time I guess. But I think its childish and something people should grow out of. I mean when you are older whats the point?

I have two friends who cant get out of bed in the morning or go to bed at night without smoking it. And they do this every single day.

One of them has not gone a day without weed in 5 years.. I dont get it?

I don't smoke pot and never cared for it. More of the jock in high school attitude, but i have definitely been around it and it doesn't bother me.

Your view is extreme, words like fascination and every day for 5 years. I don't think you have a correct view on marijuana but I respect your view based on your experiences with you friends..

My point, it takes 10% of abusers to portray it as something bad.

No one has ever died smoking pot. Not one clinical study has proven otherwise.

It's definitely safer than alcohol. For instance, how many times have you heard of a man getting high and beating the living shit out of his wife and kids?

I use it as a LAST resort for my Migraines. I was diagnosed with a Severe Migraine Variant after spending a week at UCLA medical center. They weened me off of 2 drugs which are prescibed for epileptics, which is what my Neurlogists thought I was because I was having Grand Mal Seizures. It only took the Docs about 7 years after being discharged from the Army to get that lined up. I also have sleep apnea, but my VA Doc wouldn't let me have a CPAP because I smoked  When I moved to Vegas my doc there gave me a CPAP :mj07: While in the Army, their excuse was, what are we going to do, send him to the field and the battlefield with a CPAP? But LT. Sir, he stops breathing when he is sleeping.

Anyways.... Fuck them, I digress..... After being ping ponged around The Palm Springs area, to Loma Linda University Hospital, to UCLA Med Ctr, to Scripps in San Diego, to Del Mar whatever threatment I get, it's only a 3 to 5 month fix and I develop an immunity or tolerance to the med.

So after I take Naproxen at the begining of a headache, if it gets worse it use the imitrex nasal spray, (yuck) that stuff is gross ! And if the headache hasn't gone away in 2hours, time to pack a bowl

I have a friend who has been drunk everyday since I've known him, 21 years and I just don't get it. I think he should grow up as well but I also know that he's not the norm and neither is someone that smokes in the morning, at night and everyday of their life. There are a lot of professionals that take a smoke instead of drinking so they relax but not feel bad the next day.

I used marijuana medicinally for years. I could not get out of bed or eat anything without it. I was already a small person, but I lost about 40 pounds in a month, and marijuana really saved me! Medicinally, it should definitely be legalized. I know a lot of people, even a lot of older people with really bad arthritis, who would use it if it was legal.

This bust in Cali is actually probably a good thing for the local growers out there, as long as law enforcement doesn't try to extend to them. They busted the mexican cartel, and really that is probably hurting both Cali economy and the local growers out there. There are towns in Cali that would not exist and certainly not thrive financially without marijuana. It is basically legal there already, as you can grow with a card and carry with a card. To make it completely legal can only benefit the Cali economy more, because people are going to do it anyway out there since it is semi-legal, why not make the revenue off it?

But I guess the same argument could be made for gambling throughout the US... I guess I just don't get it. Why wouldn't they want to tax something that people are going to do either way?
