Gil Meche will try and join team-mate Jamie Moyer as Seattle's second 10-game winner this season when the Mariners complete a three-game series at Anaheim.

Seattle are in 1st place in the AL West at 50-26 including a stellar 27-11 road mark.

Meche boasts a 9-3 record this season and his 2.89 ERA is the best among Mariners starters. He has had great stuff recently going 5-1 with a 2.93 ERA over his last seven starts. The 24-year-old right-hander tossed seven scoreless innings but didn't figure in the decision of Seattle's 5-3 loss to San Diego on Friday. In five career starts against Anaheim Meche is 0-0 with a 3.23 ERA. The Mariners are 20-7 this season against left-handed starters and 17-8 following a loss.

Anaheim have dropped seven of their last ten games to fall one game under .500 and be 3rd placed in the AL West at 37-38.

Jarrod Washburn toes the mound for the Angels as he looks to snap a three-game losing streak. Following a career high 18 wins last season and fourth-place in the AL Cy Young voting the left-hander has struggled to a 6-8 record and 3.87 ERA in 2003. Amazingly he has allowed nine home runs in his last 18 innings. Washburn has been very disappointing at home this season, going 1-5 with a 4.78 ERA in seven starts. He is 6-4 lifetime against the Mariners with a 4.23 ERA in 16 appearances.

The Mariners have won 17 of their last 21 road games, appear to have the edge in the pitching match-up and will look to continue their very strong bounce-back record.
