PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ?120 - The Phils have dropped the first 2 games of this series, but today they face the weakest link in the Marlins rotation. Oliver has a 4.85 ERA, and he is coming off of a rough outing vs. Atlanta where he allowed 5 earned runs and 8 hits in 6 innings. He has also had difficulty with the Phillies in the past, posting a 6.35 ERA and a horrible 1.82 ratio in 3 career starts against them. Also, both of the starting pitchers today may be asked to go longer than they would like after the 12-inning 8-7 Florida victory last night, and I feel the advantage there goes to the Phils with Brett Myers on the hill. Myers pitched very well at home last season, posting a 3.71 ERA and 1.34 ratio while allowing opposing home batters to hit just .235 off of him. Remember too that Myers was touted by Baseball America as the best pitching prospect in baseball about two years ago, and this may be the year he reaches his enormous potential.
