i tend to agree with you because i read that marty doesn't get along with the gm, who is probably looking for a reason to fire him.

how can you justify firing a guy that went 14-2 in the regular season and lost in the second round on some fluky plays?....

i don`t see it happening....

the guy missed the playoffs last year & did not win 1 playoff game this year with that team, its justified no doubt...btw certain info i know about ,says they DONT WANT HIM BACK even if he won this game

marty's done...doesn't even wear a headset, how in touch w/ the team can he be if he doesn't even know what plays are being called...what do they need him for??

I will say 1 thing in his defense is he was 14-2 w/ a 1st year starter @ QB

Blitz,

Phil Rivers blew the timeout not Marty. This guy is just cursed. Kaeding has missed 2 field goals both in playoff games that Marty was coaching Byner fumbles like once on the goal line in a playoff game. He is just destined to lose so they may as well fire him.

this team may go undefeated with drew brees as qb........

i see why they kept rivers...for the long haul...but for this year, they missed brees...big time....

they were the best team in the nfl this year...

alex smith doesn't like him, not really big news.he put that team in the best position to win that game! jackson dropping every other ball and mccree fumbling interception were not under his control. mccree falls down and chargers walk out of there with the win ! not everytime the team loses it is the coaches fault, even in the big games!

clark...again solid comments....all due respect to all, but, all the "marty`s gone" stuff sounds like gambler`s angst....

you don`t fire 14-2 coaches...

Clark,

I agree with you 100% but it will keep happening to him. He's Greg Norman. Next year it will be some other freak play. No offense, but I'd get rid of him. They are really good and should be there for years.

there is just a curse.

You wouldn't believe the hype I hear here every year "its the chargers year" "its the chargers year"

yet everytime they come up short on a regular basis due to stupid mistakes and what not.

its a curse.

its not a curse, its his philosphy,,hes a very consertive coach just like edwards, they will never win anything unless maybe they have an 80's 49ers team..the guy was great during the season, and was even attacking like crazy, but when the playoffs come he gets way to conservitive..im not saying he gets all the blame for tonights loss, but hes at fault .the missed fg 2 years ago ,same chit,he had the chance to pickup a few more yards and CHOSE NOT TO. THE GUY BUCKLES IN EVERY BIG GAME ALL THE TIME..HE NEEDED JOE MONTANA TO GIVE HIM HIS LAST PLAYOFF WIN.that all you need to know about him...i feel for the guy,but thats the truth

not marty's biggest fan, he lost both browns afc championships when I had big money on them vs Broncs--but that said, I dont blame marty for this, they had unbelievable bad luck in this game over and over ... the long TD pass out by 2 inches; the INT fumble that prob woulda iced it; the idiot PR and idiot head butt; sometimes players need to make plays, and Marty isnt to blame for many of the players messing up, theyve played ball for 20 some years and the bad breaks didnt go their way ... feel badly for him, seems jinxed, I certainly wouldnt fire him; Cowher f-ed up as many times in big games b4 he got his SB ring, tho he did get them to SB vs BOys for a L too ...

anyhow, my 2 cents, I had sd 6/1 to win afc and pats 10/1 to win SB--so I was pretty impartial in this one ... Belly had the four leaf clover today

2-key mistakes.....the challenge that cost them a timeout in a close game and with 8-sec. left i think they couldve run a out pattern for a 5-10 yard gain to give them a makeable fieldgoal....in hindsight though brady throws 3-picks sd. should win going away....tough game to lose for sd....

chargers had alot of great players but i guess one has to take in the character factor! remind me of the bengals in that they're great individual players on a team ,whereas pats are a team of great individual players! such a big difference in big games! you would think after three super bowls i wouldN'T have to relearn this again this week! still think it is PEYTON'S YEAR!!
